I have an almost full bottle (10 ml) of essential oil (ylang ylang). I got it to try it and I really HATE the smell. Does anyone want this? I'm assuming that I can ship EO without any regulatory problems.

I also may have some quilting fabrics to send, but it's just random small pieces.

Lathermaker, I, too, was surprised to hear this anti-ylang ylang sentiment! Sure, it's strong, but you just take a little sniff. But patchouli, I agree: way overused. In aromatherapy, ylang ylang is supposed to create a feeling of euphoria...

People! Ylang Ylang is a wonderful essential oil! LOLOLOL ducking and weaving. I'd LOVE to have it and I'll swap ya soap in a non ylang scent for it.
Just email me and we'll work something out.

Arlene, I would think that adding any particulates to the air would be bad for everyone in the house. I go to yoga classes and occassionally the instructor burns incense during the relaxation phase of class and it has the opposite effect on me! I end up holding my breath for half of it. Not very relaxing. Unfortunately, anything you say or do that goes against what your DIL does might be perceived as you "just being a MIL." But, maybe she just hasn't thought about it and you could mention it in some gentle way if you have a good relationship with her.

I don't hate patchouli if it is used with A LOT of restraint. I actually had some plants last summer and enjoyed walking past and running my hand along them to release the oils. The problem with patchouli is that the hippies mixed it with not bathing and smoking elicit drugs. Egad, it's awful. Most people tend to wear it with a heavy hand as well. Ylang ylang smells like, well, I don't want to be offensive, but I associate it with "old lady." I guess because it has that cloyingly (sp?) sweet, powdery smell that those old scented powders smell like. Maybe my grandmother wore something with ylang ylang in it? I read that it supposed to have an aphrodesiatic effect (NOT why I bought it, it was supposed to mix well with some other oils I bought) but I can't imagine it doing anything but making me nauseaus. Maybe I will just have to dump it.

Question though, my DIL burns incense in her house with two babies!! isn't that smoke just as bad for them as any other or am I just being a MIL?

yuck pachouli...I hate it too..does yling ylang smell similar?? PEEEYEWWWW!! fermenting hippie is sure a great description! Perfect!! Someone asked me to make a batch of pachouli soap and I had to JUST SAY NO> couldn't have handled the smell. I bet there are lots of gals who love it though..everyone is different for sure.

Laura! I DO NOT want the ylang ylang because I hate it too! And patchouli...ughh! I thought I was the only one...the 70's were a hard decade for my olfactory system! I once heard these scents described as "eau de fermenting hippie"! My apologies to those of you that like these scents!

with a happy heart
