Last summer I went to a yard sale and bought a huge box of recipe books. Slowly over the winter, I have been perusing through them all. I came across hundreds of clipped recipes and handwritten ones too.
There is a great story that goes with this all. While I was purchasing items at this yard sale, I got talking to the lady that was selling it all. She was about my age and very friendly. WE got talking and it turns out that she was selling all of these items belonging to her family that was killed in a car accident several years ago. Yikes!!
After talking to her for awhile I left thinking of the story that she told me. Some time after that I found several hand written letters with recipes on them froma daughter to her mother. i thought that for sure this must be the girl that I bought the books from.
A few weeks later, I saw her at a flea market. She approached me and asked me how I liked the recipes. (I recognized her, but didn't think that she would remember me and I was supprised when she did)
I told her about the letters and she said that indeed they were from her to her mother and she didn't eevn know that they still exsisted. I made arrangements to get them to her and did.
Now......I am willing to barter these excess recipes (Mary-Ellen, the girl does not want them, I asked her first) What I would like to barter for is for any hand written recipes of yours.. or perhaps you are spring cleaning like me and have recipe clippings that you no longer want.
I have a whole shoe box full, enough for quite a few trades...just let me know if you are interested.

Hi Karen
I'll take both...I didn't make the aprons, but I have a few that were made by patients that I take care of (I take care of Alzheimer patients and palliative care patients).

Hi KAren.....WOW!!! I just went to the mailbox and found your package. LOVE LOVE LOVE Them!! Thanks for telling me who each person is. It will be so neat when I make them to know who they came from......I think I'll write a wee note on each one. That way, I'll always know where they came from and generations from now won't be confused. LOL!!

I dont know what I could barter with unless you would like a copy of some of my recipes. Or maybe you could give me an idea of something you would like. Thanks Karen

Hi Jo, if you still have some of the handwritten recipes I would love them! I purchased a beautiful old recipe box at a second hand store a few months back filled with beautifully handwritten and type-writer typed recipes and I'm in love! I adore cooking with these old recipes, I like to think about the woman- whoever she was and about how she collected all those recipes so she could cook wonderful meals for her family. Anyway, let me know if I could barter/buy them! I don't know what I could barter for... I'm totally new at this.... Thank you!!

GREAT idea!

You know what I did, was I went and got picture frames, and I gave out recipe cards to all my friends and family, and had them write their favorite recipes on them, and I framed them, and decorated my kitchen with them!

It really is meaningful to me, since they are not only these peoples signature recipes, but their actual hand writing, I'll have forever!
