I have two pair of mittens that I've just made. The outer layer is of felted wool and the inner layer is polar fleece. They're nice and warm. . .my kiddos and husband LOVE them (my 7 year old says they're not as pretty as her friends' mittens, but they're lots warmer, so she still likes them). Since they're wool they stay quite warm even when they're a bit wet. And the wool is felted already, so you can wash/dry them.

As far as size goes, they're just a medium sized women's mitten.

Would you like to trade for one pair or both? I'd love seeds for vegetable garden this summer (if you have them already!), or garden-y stuff, or ummm. . .soap, lotion, dishtowels, OR maybe something else you have to offer? Let's see~

Here's a picture of both pair.

The one pair is red with a yellow lining, the other is a kind of light rust color (just like the color of my grandma's sofa!) with a navy liner.

Bonne Bonne Bonne!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If I knew you I'd call you and RAVE about my package!!!!! WOW! So much stuff! It's awesome! Thank you thank you!!! The kiddos are home today because school was closed due to ice, and they are going crazy over all the yummy soaps (and the bear)! And my kindergartener said with all the subtlety a 5 year old boy can manage, "(cough cough) remember when I had my cold? (cough cough) I think I still have it. Maybe you should put some of that (the vaporub) on my chest (cough cough)." Of course that was about 2 weeks ago that he was coughing for real! Thank you so much Bonne! I know it sounds trite, but what a blessing! Really! A great surprise! Wow! Am I going on and on? Anyhow, you get the point. You made our day! Thanks! Oh yeah, the seeds too! My husband said, "how did she know you wanted seeds?" Ha Ha, like he thinks you can read my mind! Thank you thank you!

We usually dry them overnight by the woodstove, but have put them in the dryer too and they do not shrink when they dry. . .as far as how fast they dry, I know that if the kids get them wet at first recess (10:00 maybe?) they're still wet at second recess (12:00) but they say their hands are still warm at 2nd recess. Let me know if you're interested or have more questions! Thanks!

how fast do they dry and do they shrink in the dryer, if they dont shrink i wouldnt mind having two pairs for my girls cause the gloves they have for school dont work worth a bean.

The Vaporub has soy&sunflower oils/mowrah butter/beeswax/eucalyptus & camphor ess. oils and Vicks Vaporub body safe fragrance. As long as you aren't sensitive to any of those ingredients, should be fine for children.
Can't wait!! I love those mitts!

Hey Bonne! Sounds great! email me your address! WOW, homemade VapoRub? Do you know if you can use it on kiddos' sensitive skin too? Anyhow, how about you use your best judgment on the eqality of the trade? Enjoy the mittens!
Bonne Posted - Jan 23 2008 : 3:25:41 PM
I love 'em!!! I've soap and some seeds harvested from my pumpkins/lettuce/peppers.
Lemme know a $ value on them and we can deal?
(have whipped shea butter & "homemade VapoRub" too!)
