I'm working on revamping the curriculum of the class I teach in the Fall semester on healthy choices in the areas of physical, spiritual, social, etc., life. I want to touch on diets because that's such a huge aspect of college students' lives. I've found material on other nutrition/diet systems, but I can't find the Weight Watchers stuff -- the book, point system, pamphlets, any of that. I tried to join for at least a month, but they won't let me because I don't meet the weight criteria.

If you have these materials and no longer need or want them, I'll be glad to purchase them and pay postage. I have a paypal account or can send a personal check or money order. Please email me at happymama58@yahoo.com. Thank you so much!

Hi Patti! I have a bunch of stuff I was going to drop off at the Goodwill. I think it has all the info you're requesting plus has some cookbooks etc. too. Just email me your address if you'd like me to send it out to you. It would all fit in a postal Flat Rate Box. I'll trade you for a handwritten recipe on a recipe card :) Just email if that sounds good and I'll send them right out :)

Thanks for clearing up the points info, Patricia... I did the WW points thing right when it first started and that was probably 10 years ago; I finally decided to rid myself of the books and booklets which I hadn't used or looked at since that first year of doing it... I guess my memory is rustier than I think!

Unfortunately, if your 50 calories is packed with fat, it is more points.

(Calories/50) + (Fat/12) + (Fiber/5) = Food Points
Note: Fiber can be no larger then 4 grams in the equation. The remaining Fiber is a bonus for your body.

POINTS TARGET - 20 (Weigh Less than 150 lbs)
22 (Weigh 150 -174 lbs)
24 (Weigh 175 - 199 lbs)
26 (Weigh 200 - 224 lbs)
28 (Weigh 225 - 249 lbs)
30 (Weigh 250 - 274 lbs)
31 (Weigh 275 - 299 lbs)
32 (Weigh 300 - 324 lbs)
33 (Weigh 325 - 349 lbs)
34 (Weigh more than 350 lbs)
this website is really good: http://groups.msn.com/AWeightLossAdventure/weightwatchers.msnw

Good Luck,

I wish I had known this a year ago... I cleared out all of my WW stuff and took it to the local Goodwill, it's long gone. I had everything, the scale, free points book, log books and the 2 purchased points books. One thing I have always remembered from my WW experience is that every 50 calories equals 1 point, so if you eat a bowl of cereal (for example) that is 200 calories, it equals 4 points. And with a goal of 140, and at the time I weighed 155, I was supposed to eat (I think I remember this right) 27 points a day. The amount of points you're supposed to eat per day corresponds with what you weigh now though... so a woman of maybe 170 lbs might need to eat 29 points worth a day... hope at least that little bit of info might help you out!

Hey Patti,

Give a weight criteria that will get you registered. My sister is using the Weight Watchers and says the website is awesome and loaded with useful information.
