Hi! I have a little box of wooden thread spools (all empty). There are twelve larger ones (like 1 3/4 inch tall), 5 medium sized ones, and 28 of the smaller ones. They have brands like Clarks, Talon, Belding Corticelli, . . .anyone interested in them for crafts, decorating, etc? I'd love to trade! Thanks! |

The spools where very cool I have them with my other ones in large glass canning jars in my parlor

Sheila, They came, they came!!!!! My granddaughters love them, labels included. They are now at home in an old blue glass jar with a lid so the grands can take them out and play with them. That is so much fun and wow what a treat in the mail. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
yeah, no woodstove fate here, aren't we glad Denise.

Thank you so much for the spools. I received mine today.
Don't worry about the note. it is unnecessary anyway. I knew what they were and who they were from. I love these, they are great and with the labels still on them!
Am I glad you rescued them from the woodstove fate. ;)

And guys, sorry, I just made up my nice packaged boxes and taped them up, then realized that I hadn't even included a note. I'm not really that antisocial, just. . .ummm. . .busy/distracted, whatever! So Hope you enjoy them! |

Ah ha Sheila, so you found a use for one anyway! That's great and it's what this forum is all about. Sharing ideas and there is so much creativity here amongst these women isn't there?
Bonne always has great ideas to share and is always willing to share them. I love it!

Denise, I'm not sure yet. I'm practicing with a DK weight alpaca in cream. They make nice straps for knit/crochet bags; belts; lots of things, I just have to think of them! LOL

I had a total flashback when I found a spoolknitter put out by Lion Brand at Hobby Lobby, so I had to look them up. I used to do this all the time as a kid.
Now I've got a project going on one! LOL
I use a tiny crochet hook to lift the yarn over the nail.

What a good idea Bonne. I remember those plastic things they put out in the 70's to make something with. They look like a spool and you wrapped the yarn around the 4 posts or something.

The big ones are great to make knitting spools. You hammer nails in the top~remember those for making cord?

The woodstove! Guess my husband would probably think the same thing. I have saved a lot of things from that fate around here. :)
