Some French textbooks and a Lawyer's Day book from 1953 -- for altered art / cards / etc.
Three Kerr jelly jars -- love these!
Vintage Christmas coasters (paper)
Pfaltzgraff brown spoon rest -- with wheat
Vintage-look Lipton Tea tin
and . . . a Wedgwood pin! Pink jasperware -- for $1.90. My find of the day!!

and a few pieces of fabric -- home decor samples, ten cents each. I think I'll incorporate them into my purses/totes:

'Twas a good day, especially since it took my mind off my next destination -- dentist (dum-dum-dum!) Root canal! Whew -- glad that's over (at least the first and toughest visit is over). And now I can play with my new stuff.

Posted - Sep 10 2007 : 11:34:49 AM Update: Another dentist appointment, so got to go to the Salvation Army again -- two more French textbooks (1930 and 1937), a French-English dictionary, a 1935 Dictionary-College Edition, a 1935 'Modern Encyclopedia', and 'Quilts and Afghans' from McCalls. All the old texbooks and dictionaries are from the same person - - Ginette. (I love that spelling of the name). Oh, and purchased a square casserole from Germany that has a graphic floral decoration. This time, I ran around the house before leaving and got together a bag of donations -- otherwise the house will split at the seams if I keep bringing more stuff home!

Posted - Sep 07 2007 : 05:58:09 AM Good golly, Miss Molly! You wouldn't have even needed novocaine after finding such a great haul of neat stuff!! And I am so excited that you asked Stephanie about her altered art. I would love it if somebody could post a good website ("altered art for dummies" would be good for me) or even a good book that covers what altered art is, and has good directions. I think I might really enjoy that creative outlet. Anyway, you definitely get an A+ for the thrifting!! Hugs, Nance

Posted - Sep 07 2007 : 04:11:19 AM Stephanie -- Yes, I was elated to find the old textbooks & daybook. Haven't found good vintage books all summer, and then hit the motherlode. And the prices were great -- 70 cents for the larger ones and 40 cents for the small ones! Our library has donated books on sale for a quarter (including hardcovers), but I rarely find interesting ones there. So this was soooo good. What kind of altered collage mixed media do you do?
