Does anyone have an extra needle or needles you may not want anymore, to trade for some nice handmade soap or something else?

Sherri,

Needlefelting is essentially laying many thin layers of wool roving, batts, etc onto a foundation wool batt or a thick dense piece of cushion like material and using the Needle tool to "needle punch" the fibers into the foundation....the needles have a barbed design to them that catches the wool fibers and bonds the wools together with the end result being "WOOL FELT".....I'm sure you've probably seen wool felt that you can buy....so the needle felting is the artistic way of making one-of-a-kind WOOL FELT....It is truly the ultimate in "freeform" design!

I use a NeedleFelting Machine instead of doing it by hand...here's the info and pictures of the machine along with a few pictures of my needle felting at my website:

http://www.dreamkingdomdesigns.com/needlefelting.html

Here is the topic that I've started over in the Stitching Forum for Wool Recycling that also will include the Needle Felting and Wet Felting techniques. http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/snitz/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=11355&whichpage=1

Here is a webpage with an explanation of the characteristics of the Felting Needles and there is a link to show pictures of examples that they have created....These tools at this site are all for Hand Needlefelting.

Hope this gives you a good overview...I'll post more links as I find them. Feel free to email me if you need any help getting started.

Peace,
Stephanie

there is a picture of some needles on here http://www.cobwebcottage.co.nz/Supplies.html

http://www.blacksheepdesigns.com/student_work.htm here is a gallery of some needle felted art.

http://www.indygojunctioninc.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=172&products_id=612 this book has some fairly easy instructions and projects to get started.

I started needle felting about 4 months ago. I haven't finished the project I began because i don't have the time to sit still long enough to finish. It's a purse and not a small one ;) I have made a few felted flowers and they are so cute! I just bought a couple of books and read some articles online to get started. It's a lot of fun!

Can someone post a picture of what needlefelting looks like? I went to the site Stephanie suggested, but no pictures. I'd really like to know what it is. Thanks!

Hey Chris, Here's a link for a lady that sells the needles for hand and machine needlefelting..I've ordered from her before and she ships quick and her prices are very good.

There are several different sizes so I would suggest you email her to get for the use of each size.

I have the Janome Needlefelting Machine....I just love it...I'm excited to see someone else on this group needlefelting or wanting to......

Let me know what you find out

Peace, Stephanie
