Ok, hope this doesn't sound weird, but I love the knitted socks that many of the farmgirls are doing, but alas, I do not knit!!!! I do sew though and if there is a farmgirl willing to knit me a pair of socks, I would be willing to sew you an apron.....your choice, full or half, vintage or new, MJ's pattern or any pattern, rick rack or plain, vintage reproduction, you name it, I'll sew it. I even have the pattern for the Edwardian Apron that takes 4 yards of fabric. Plus size or regular size....I'll do it for you.

I have arthritis in both of my feet, so a pair of these socks would just feel sooooo good at night when my feet hurt so bad.

I know how much time it must take to make a pair of socks, so I assure you, I will do my absolute best sewing on the apron!! If you would like to see some of my sewing, just click on my blog link. Maybe there is a farmgirl out there who doesn't sew, but knits? Who doesn't have an apron and would like a custom apron? Hmmmm.......somebody? Pweety pweeze????

Gosh, I do sound desperate don't I?

Here's wishing.......Georgann

Aunt George-

I am so glad you got your swap! Your apron sewing is so great! This swap- it almost inspired me to go learn how to knit socks! :)

Kathy,
I sent you an email....I've been trying off and on this afternoon to get an email out, but for some reason the server was not letting me. Let me know if you don't get the email. I finally sent it through MJ's.

OK, Georgann I'll bite! I'll need to know the length of your foot from heel to toe, the circumfrence of your foot around your arch (about the middle of your foot), your ankle measurement, whether you want shortie socks or regular length "crew" socks, fiber allergies, if any, fine or bulky socks, warm weather or cool weather socks, plain jane, ribbed, geometric pattern, lacey, and color of your choice. Oh, so many options!

Like Catherine, I'm finishing up socks for a couple of other swaps, but I should be able to get these done by the end of July (no, it really doesn't take that long to knit a pair of socks, but I have this ugly, full-time job thing, and i really do have some other knitting/sewing committments too!)

Just e-mail me and we can "talk" about what you'd like!!

Sunshine and Catherine.......

Sunshine, I'm not worried about perfection...that's for sure!!

Catherine, I understand about all of the irons in the fire....that is me too. I used to crochet for everyone but myself, so I know how that goes, I've made shawls, sweaters, potholders dishcloths, and my hands cramp terribly now everytime I use a hook! But if nobody else wants to barter with me, I'm a patient person, and I can surely wait until fall or winter even!! Works with my time schedule too!

Thanks for responding!! I've seen your gorgeous socks and your's are the main reason that I want a pair! So mutual admiration society going on here!! LOL

Hi Georgann!

Here's hoping that ktknits can jump in for you, as Sunshine suggested she might because while I'm *this* close to saying that I'll swap with you, I'm also buried up to my ears in knitting right now! I'm finishing my Hogwarts socks then I have to finish my MIL's birthday socks by July then my mom's socks, then my husband's socks, while at the same time finishing Jackson's hoodie and making him some socks...and then...I may just find some time to knit something for myself again! (can't wait to start in on my wool/silk blend Peace shawl...)

If Kathy can't jump in and you still want to swap in the fall, I'm your Knitter. I do so love your sewing!

Catherine :)

p.s. What about Aunt Jenny?! Not like she's not busy enough, but she knits some awesome socks... :)

I thought, why not try? I don't knit and I can no longer hold a crochet hook for any length of time, but I can sew!!! I wish you could knit them too Alee!! I'm hoping there is a knitter who doesn't sew, then that would be very equitable for both parties!!

Thanks Alee for the encouragement on this bartering quest!!

Ooo- I wish I knew how to knit! [;P] What a great idea though, Aunt George! Swapping all sorts of different crafts to those who want a particular item!
