Hi everyone,

It has been awhile since I've been in the chat room so forgive me if this is a recent or repeat topic.

I have very fine hair that is thinning on top. Yes, I've been through menopause, use a sulfur-free shampoo, use a towel gently when drying, do not overuse a blow dryer, take B-vitamins and biotin. I've been on the vitamins for about 2 months, maybe a little longer. My hair grows longer faster but not getting thicker, which is what I'm yearning for! At my last physical, my thyroid was within normal limits. I tried minoxidil (Rogaine) but I don't think I gave it a fair try.

Has anyone else tried it? Can anyone who has experienced (or experiencing) the same type of hair loss offer any advice?

I'm at a loss (pun intended) as to what to do!

Darlene, hair loss can also be a symptom of a thyroid that isn't functioning up to par or not enough iodine in your diet. Might want to get it checked.

Thank you, ladies. I think I will see a dermatologist. I have briefly looked at Keranique but I may revisit that option.

You know my Mother was having a hair loss problem and finally went to a dermatologist. Her problem was something similar to babies cradle cap. She didn't notice
it and there were no flakes. after about six months of special shampoos and scalp massages her hair all came back. For what it's worth.......

I'm from a family of woman who have the same problem. About three years ago I decided to give Keranique a try. It's rogaine for women but there is also shampoo and conditioner that are part of their treatment. It took at least 6-8 months before I started to notice any difference but it has definitely helped! Keranique is a little expensive....I think around 160 every two months, auto-ship....or at least I thought it was even though it produced great results. I now buy just the treatment part of it, generic, at Walmart. It's still working great. I didn't tell my hairdresser I was using anything and after about a year of use she said something about my hair being thicker and fuller on top and on the sides. She was impressed!!
