Hello ladies,

Do any of you do this "new" thing called Zentangle? I know coloring books for grown ups (we stopped calling them "adult" coloring books because that made it sound like porn!) are huge right now, but I recently learned about something kinda similar called Zentangle.

It is like doodling but different, and is supposedly very relaxing and a great way to clear your mind of the day's stuff that is buzzing around in your head.

I just tried it briefly at a workshop on "Mindfulness", and would love to hear from anyone who Zentangles regularly. If you do, and have any tiles you'd like to share, please post them and inspire us!

Thanks,
Cindy

Hey there, girls! I just saw this kit and thought of you: https://www.mycraftchannel.com/featured-buy/doodle-mix-detail SO neat! Just please keep in mind, if you order, they do take a while to ship!

Zentangle is a favorite here at my home, as well. I love when the kids say how bored they are, because we pull out the pens and go to town! Such fun! Personally, I find it very relaxing to do!

Have a great day!

Hugs -

I started tangling when I was going through a divorce and cross-country move about 5 years ago -- it has been wonderful!!!

My daughter does Zentangle, strictly for the artwork aspect of it and she does AWESOME work! She just comes up with the outline she wants and starts "doodling" in the designs. She has made me some very spectacular ones for my birthday and Mother's Day . . . one of a kind.
She mainly does greeting cards (which she sells), has some birthday cupcakes, birthday cakes, baby buggies, baby rattles, love birds, hearts and, because she and I are glampers . . she has done four different trailer designs. Here are the Airstream and the Shasta. She also has a Scotty and a Teardrop.

We had another zentangle class yesterday at the library. It was so much fun. We did tiles and then the librarian was going to design a display of our work. It was sooooo much fun. I was very pleased with my creations. Ladies this is such a fun way to kill time, do when not your perky self and need some down time, and just want to be artsy. Cheap hobby. You can even carry a small pad and pen in your purse and do it on the road. I can do the drawing part anywhere.

Darlene, Please post some of your zentange. I would love to see how you do your tiles.

Darlene hooked me up - fabulously! Lots of sources and examples. Perhaps we'll see a tile or two from her here some time in the near future :)

We just had a workshop in Oberlin, Ks on this. A gal from California is originally from the area. When she was back visiting family she gave a class. I LOVED it. I use to print off coloring pages when I was very sick and do it for hours. Very calming and soothing. I don't have tiles to share, but would love to see the art work.

I will try to get with her for some pointers for starting - thanks!

We did a Zentangle swap awhile back and it was fun. Daelenelovesart (Darlene Ricotta) is a real artist at this. She helped me a lot.
Maybe you could get together with her. ??
