Posted - Nov 26 2006 : 6:35:45 PM *UPDATE* I haven't been around much lately, I have been really out of commission...big time. I had blood cultures come back positive...this means that the post-op infection I had in my jaw has spread to my blood stream....it is called sepsis, and can be quite serious.
Eldon has been doing a great job taking care of me, the kids, and the house. And on the weekends (he works for the power company and only works Fri, Sat and Sun) I have had my family, and especially my friends really help out. It has been so nice to be cared for by such loving people! I am truely blessed...
I want to say a big "FarmGirl Thanks" to all of you who have sent me kind words and well wishes....AND fun stuff in the mail..this has raised my spirits so much, and given me some great things to read!
Sooo, please keep me in your thoughts and prayers, it really helps. I *can* feel all of your positive energy, and it helps to keep me going...I will keep you all updated on my situation.
Love and light to you all
Kate

Posted - Dec 16 2006 : 10:38:28 PM I am hanging in there...still on the IV antibiotics, and really, as much as I don't want to have another surgical procedure, I will probably have to have this abcess on my jaw bone drained! Probably on Monday or Tuesday.
Really, after 6 weeks, all I want for Christmas is to be off this IV.... But it doesn't look like it is going to happen.
Thanks for all your prayers, thoughts and warm wishes.
Love and light to you Kate

I am so glad to hear from you - and to have an update as to how you are doing, but this is ridiculous - I'm sending special "get the heck out of Kate" vibes to that infection... I hope and pray that you are feeling much better very soon - your poor body - and I say "body," because even through this ordeal, I can see your true shining farmgirl personality and optimism bursting through. Love!!!

Posted - Dec 12 2006 : 06:07:00 AM kATE, Glad to see an update, sorry to hear that things were better then got worse again. I don't claim to be right here, but I can't think doing a root canal without first clearing up the infection would be a good idea. JUST HOPE THING GET BETTER FOR YOU REAL SOON!! NANCY JO

Posted - Dec 11 2006 : 8:49:21 PM Jenny, I know! It felt sooo good to get out on Saturday, and I really didn't wear myself out at all....Amber did all the hard work! I don't know what is up with this stupid infection situation...I guess my endurance really is in the toilet, and having the other teeth worked on just flared everything up again!
I guess I can say, truely, all I want for Christmas is to feel better!

Posted - Dec 11 2006 : 6:08:44 PM *UPDATE* I was doing better, and my dentist decided he should go ahead and do some more work, It turns out I had two teeth that were abcessed and needed root canals. The general concensus was to go ahead and do that while I was still on IV antibiotic...SOOO...I had those done on Wednesday and Thursday last week. By early Sunday morning I was in excruciating pain...AGAIN...I went to the dentist this morning...SUPRISE...I have a pocket on infection (like a marble) in my jawbone...on the other side!!
Seriously, I am jinxed?? No, really, I think it is just that my immunesystem is supressed to begin with (related to my rheumatoid arthritis and meds I have taken for that...prednisone, methotrexate etc..) and after this major septic infection my body is just worn out!!
So, here we go again...round 3 with the IV.... Hey at least they didn't take the picc line out...it has been in for four weeks...and counting....
Thanks for all your Christmas cards and well wishes...REALLY... You guys are so cool.
Love and light to you... Kate

Posted - Dec 05 2006 : 05:38:38 AM Kate- Somehow I missed seeing this update. Poor you! It is just not any fun to be down for this long (and at this time of year). Good to know you are being well taken care of and that you are taking it easy. Sometimes these pesky infections only respond to IV antibiotics, are you doing that at home? I hope you are feeling like your old self REAL soon! Big hugs and get well wishes!
