On Tuesday I started feeling a weight on my chest. Bronchitis is common for me so I was thinking that this was it. Wednesday I began caughing a little and when I left school(i teach) I had the nurse check my temp and it ws 101.7! I already had thursday off so I could go for my annual girl exam(yuck!) so i decided to get up ealier and go to my regular doctor as well. I went and he thought bronchitis too although it was just a light cough. I still had a fever of 101. He prescribe some meds, I went to my other appt. and went home. About 2:00 my stomach started hurting and I felt like I would be sick. I threw up quite a bit until I had nothing left. My body was still trying to get sick though. I was drinking a glass of water everytime just so I had something to throw up! (Sorry this is a liitle gross). This went on all night. Last time I was sick was about 2 am and it is 8 am now. I feel as if someone threw mw from a moving train. I look like I got punched in the eyes and I'm guessing that is from trowing up. My fever was down to about 99.8 as of 15 minutes ago. The weird this is other than my really sore muscles I feel totally fine! The weight in my chest is gone and I no longer feel sick at my stomache! Has this ever happened to anyone else? I was starting to think I had some strange disease (yes I'ma bit of a hypchondriac). I've never had the flu. Could this be the flu? Oh well! I don't wish this on anyof you!

here is some info on what this really is pretty scarry if you think you have the common cold ( if not taken care of can lead to pnemonia or death) We where on the verge of hospitazilation of our littlest one due to dehydration.

Lucky the next day when she woke up her body decided it was thirsty again after 5 days and she drank everything in site and started to pull out of it. Even with that it took about 6 to 7 more days for us to say she was acting normal. She is still worried about it nothing like a 5 year old every hour asking to have her fever checked because she wants to make sure she isn't getting sick again.

She has now missed 3 birthday events we kept rescheduling it and she kept being sick. I think I will rescheduele it again for two weeks from now to make sure she is well and invite her friends from church class as that is one of the parties she missed. They sing to the kids in Priamry and after missing the two Sundays after her birthday they forgot to sing to her she cried for almost 30 minuets yesterday at church before the primary teachers realized why she was crying. She calmed down after they sang. All she wants is normal little things and it just wasn't hapening she just kept missing those things. She apsolutely hated this birthday she calles it the "bad birthday". Very scary thing this I am so glad it has finnally let go of our little one.

p.s. if any one wants to send her a card she would just love that. Email me I will gladly give you my address to see a few smiles on her face from gettting a simple card.

OHHHHH Well, now i can see how it would affect the young and especially old/weaker folks. An illness like that will bring anyone down to their knees, never mind the really old or really young.

so sorry

isn't it weird how we seem to get sicker earlier every year! I am so glad you are feeling better now.

it is not a stomach flu it is influenza a whole lot worse, This is the real thing not what every one calls the flu which is really just a cold or fever with stomach problem.

I can't echo enough about the hand sanatizer bit. Shopping cart handles and puch buttons in public are the worst! As soon as I'm seated in the car, I sanatize!!!

Was at Whole Foods last weekend and near the carts was a canister of hand sanatizing wipes right there! That was a nice touch.

Also, keep hands away from eyes and nose. Hard for those of us w/ allergies anyway!

It's a crappy feeling. Never heard of stomach flu lasting for more than 2 days WOW

Rest up abd don't push it

I think it was the flu. When I get the flu, even my hair seems to hurt. Ha. Which reminds me.....I need to get my flu shot soon or I will be right there with you.

Yep...sounds like flu...I have been fighting bronchitis...I get it easily too. I hate the feeling you describe..my friend and I call that feeling "beat up and left to die". It takes awhile to get your strength back..you take it easy this weekend!!!

Well I kept my lunch but after I ate dinner (2 pieces of toast) my fever was up again and I was sick again! I hope this doesn't last 8 days. Sunshine all the best to you and your little one. Hopefully the other two dont get it too. I sympathize with her and with you haveing to take care of her.

Well thanks for the advise! I've never had the flu before and this was crazy! I really think that's what it was. Well I've got all weekend to recuperate and no school on Monday. I was able to eat a little food this afternoon so we'll see how it goes.

Yes, I'd say stomach flu too. Sounds exactly what I had last year, the worst of it only last 12 to 24 hours. Then your body just needs to recooporate for a couple of days. Drink lots of water, rest even if you don't feel lousy and feel better soon!

Sounds like the flu to me, I get alot of those symptoms with it and then just feel sore achy and wiped out for a few days. Last time Ihad it I didn't feel normal for almost two weeks. I hope you are on the road to recovery and feeling better soon!

with a happy heart

Sounds like the flu alright. So sorry Julie, it really is miserable but at least you're on the mend now. Drink lots of fluids to rehydrate yourself and eat light to let your body recover slowly.
I'm a big baby...I'm getting a flu shot this afternoon and have stocked my purse and car with hand sanitizer (germ-a-phobic!). I have two daughters working in healthcare, have already seen one of them bring home Norwalk virus and I'm avoiding it at all cost!
