I have this strange red lumpy blistery thing on my left index finger. I thought is was poison something like the poison ivy I had on my arms after working in the garden. My poison ivy has gone away, but this blister thing is still raging.

Thinking it was some sort of blister, I picked it with a pin. I was expecting fluid of some sort of come out, but nothing happened. I must have made it mad though because then it started itching and the next day it doubled in size.

Yesterday, I had washed my hands a few time and my skin got a little dried out, making the blister thing itch. I scratched it and it bled a little. It has gotten bigger. It's not getting taller, it is getting wider and longer. The really weird thing is you can see plain as day the original blister thing in the center. It really looks like a blister that should drain when popped.

I tried to shine a light through it and it is a bit transparent with strong light. One person tried to suggest using a blow dryer on it and if it moved, it was a worm. Another person thought it might be a spider bite. I just don't know.

Any thoughts?

Those antibiotics have probably knocked it down by now. Hope you are back to your old self!

Don't know where or exactly how. Said I could have had a small cut or something and got some germs/bacteria in it some how. Meds are helping. The swelling is going down. I feel 'off' but he said I might. In bed right now watching TV and 'surfing'. My head has had a dull ache all day.

Dr says cellulitis. A round of antibiotics and I should be good as new in about a week.

Lora - it could be MRSA - time to get it checked for sure. If you cannot get a doctor appointment in a reasonable time, go to a doc-in-a-box!

Perhaps I am being a little paranoid, but I would get it checked.... it kinda looks like a spider bite...

Went to get TT oil today. While I was at the store, this thing split open a little and bled. In the picture, just opposite of the dark red triangle spot there is a whitish area - that's where it split. I put the oil on it and my goodness does it itch! I put a band-aid over it so I don't scratch it. I don't think the oil made it itch because last time it opened, it itched like crazy for a couple of hours.

worth a shot. thanks!
Actually it doesn't really hurt at all. It's kind of numb and sometimes it itches.

Lora...gosh it sure looks painful. I have no idea what it might be, maybe try putting some tea tree oil on it. That's what I would try.
