Posted - Feb 15 2013 : 08:48:56 AM I have migraines. I have imetrex nasal spray. I also take corgard to prevent them. But weird weather in th TN mountains this brings the attacks on like wild fire. I basically hibernate Feb/March as the attacks are daily. Even caffeine doesn't help, sometimes make the headaches worse. Would you ladies have any ideas to make my life less miserable?

Posted - Feb 18 2013 : 04:46:56 AM I take 5HTP but for stress relief. This could be similar since it would help relax the blood vessels. Constricted blood vessels in the brain is a cause of migraines. Coffee and any caffeine will cause the blood vessels to constrict on anyone, therefore a bad choice under these circumstances. Hope this helps.

Posted - Feb 18 2013 : 04:14:09 AM Does anyone take 5 HTP for migraines? I just started taking it. It is supposed to boost serotonin. Not supposed to take it with Imitrex, though or you can get too much serotonin. I take Imitrex for the migraines so I have to be careful. I sure hope it helps, as I get frequent migraines.

Posted - Feb 15 2013 : 4:22:27 PM I have migraines as well. I take corgard, and tried imetrex and a few other triptans, but they did not work for me because they made me sick to my stomach. The side effects were as bad as the headaches. Now I take Excedrin Migraine. One thing that helps is a tens unit. I put it on my neck and back it helps calm the tension. My husband bought it for me when he was in rehab after knee surgery. They were using them on patients there. I use it now when I get a migraine, and the sooner the better. |

Posted - Feb 15 2013 : 4:04:40 PM Peppermint applied to temples might help, or chewing on some feverfew leaves is said to be good for migraines. Be careful and check with your Dr. To make sure herbs do not interfere with other medications.

Posted - Feb 15 2013 : 12:08:31 PM I have been suffering with migraines for years. I have tried everything. I sleep with a bite splint to prevent grinding. And I have finally started going to a chiropractor. I am feeling so much better.
I was not convinced of chiropractor care, but he has truly helped me. I have been going for about a month and my headaches have lessened about 85%. We are hoping by spring I will have them under control completely. So a big 'thumbs ups' for my Hubby who said it would work. He was RIGHT! lol
