Posted - Feb 06 2013 : 2:21:13 PM ...for the first time today. I've always wanted to as they have blood drives at work but I didn't know how long it would take and I always had work to do...anyway, today was slower than usual so I decided to give blood. I was feeling well up until about the last minute of giving blood, then I became light headed and started coughing. But I gave the full amount and discovered that I need to eat a full meal before doing it again. My mom was diagnosed as anemic last year and had to have a transfusion. So there is a real need out there. It didn't take all that long and I got a free t-shirt. Cindy

Posted - Feb 06 2013 : 4:27:44 PM So glad you were able to give blood. I haven't been able to give for a few years now because I'm anemic. There is such a need though. Hopefully, next time will be a bit smoother for you and you won't get light headed at the end.

Posted - Feb 06 2013 : 4:00:57 PM Angie, we discovered you can't give blood if you have even visited the UK. I don't know how long they ban your blood ...
Cindy, glad you got to give blood. You should be proud of yourself!
