I use vinegar and water or baking soda for cleaning almost everything. I stopped buying expensive cleansers awhile back. Vinegar and water is the very best for cleaning windows.

We are in the process of getting rid of all the carpet. Room by room is a slow process. But it the only way we can do it. Also all cotton cloth where ever I use it and also I am not buying store bought cleaners any more. Check out my blog for the newest and neatest trick for a bathroom cleaner.

We also have hardwood floors. It was a necessity because of airborne allergies, but it turned out to be a good thing. Also cotton curtains, no formaldehyde, no scotch guard, no fire retardent. A bunch of happy accidents.

We also have the occasional field mouse, but the kitty takes care of that.

Happy to report, we just have hardwood floors , all cotton curtains, cotton chairs and a leather couch. No icky stuff in our home, and we weren't even tyring.

Worst part is probably a little mouse poop coming in from the leaky air ducts beneath the crawl space. Nothing we can do about that when you live in the country and the crawl space is mere inches from the dirt floor. And no- it's not Haunta Virus stage. Sometimes we just get the occasional whiff of dirt smell. You know- old house musty stink on occasion, but that's about it.

Newer homes that are buttoned up way tight might have issues with fumes. Especially those with wall to wall carpeting. But unless occupants in the house start complaining of headaches, there's probasbly no reason to be alarmed

I believe that article is very important, especially to those of us who have chronic issues that seem to get worse at home! It's taken me a while to put two and two together :) but we're working on it!

Thanks for posting the article!
