Posted - Oct 16 2012 : 11:54:03 AM I cut up some cayennes last night and didn't wear the latex gloves. Now my hands are burning. Anyone have a quick fix for this?

Posted - Dec 19 2012 : 6:14:19 PM I've been a contact lens wearer for several decades and I had to learn the hard way, but it's pretty much a habit now for me. If my hubby or daughter are around I have them chop peppers. If I have to do it myself I'll wear gloves . . . but I'm gonna remember the olive oil! Just hope I remember to do that BEFORE handling my lenses. Thanks! CJ

Posted - Dec 13 2012 : 6:08:16 PM Oh my goodness, I did the same thing last year cutting up some hot peppers. I had no idea I was supposed to wear gloves! After trying a billion concoctions, (not olive oil, though, I'll have to remember that), I found instant relief with mustard. Just straight up yellow mustard smeared all over my hands. SOOOOO much better! :)

Posted - Oct 21 2012 : 2:33:43 PM I may have done this while wearing my contacts. ONCE
THAT was enough too. Had to wear glasses for the rest of that day. And yes, I did a milk flush which did take the sting away.

Posted - Oct 21 2012 : 10:19:04 AM You are welcome, Phyllis. My husband uses those foot rubs. Some of them burn a lot. We always have olive oil on hand. Glad it worked for you. Marly

I did that once. It only takes one time to remind you not to do it again.
I've been very careful about touching my nose or my eyes, but I did get it in the corner of my mouth once, and it took a long time to get over it.

Posted - Oct 16 2012 : 4:19:31 PM OW! You poor thing!!! Well... they do say to drink plenty of milk when you're tongue is on fire because of hot peppers... Apparently the lactic acid has a neutralizing effect on the capzacin in the peppers... I would give it a try, Phyllis! It would also be a nice skin softener for your hands. Good luck! Hugs - Nini

Posted - Oct 16 2012 : 3:03:04 PM Did you try olive oil? That's what we do. It works for us. Good luck. Let me know if it works. Just pour the olive oil in your palm and rub together. Wash your hands then do it again. Marly
