My hubby now has ringing in his ears. It is driving him more batty than he already is.
He says when it is quiet his ears ring, especially at night. I told him to put on the tv.
The tv will keep him awake! Okay, then let your ears ring.
Is there anything that will help this? Please, let me know.

It may also be TMJ temporal mandibular joint disorder. Does he grind his teeth when he sleeps or chew alot of gum? Does he suffer from headaches? A simple mouth guard at night may cure it. Have him see an ent (ear nose throat) Dr.

Thanks, Judy. The ringing bothers my hubby when he is really tired, also. He has a sound machine that he turns on at night. That seems to help him.

Marly, I just found a way to handle about half the sound that was ringing in my ears. I went to the audiologist and he found I had some hearing loss. Not a lot, just enough to have me sometimes say what if a person was talking in another direction. When I got my hearing aids (yes, both ears) the ringing reduced by about half or more. The only time it is bad is when I am really tired, like now.

I have that ringing in my ears all the time, during the day I don't notice it much because of all the noise during the day, but at night when its quiet and I want to sleep, ugh! it gets really annoying. My issue is the result of a severe head injury; my doctors all say the same : it won't go away. I found that running something like a fan on low creates just enough sound to drown it out and not keep me awake.
Hope he finds some peace.

My husband is a board certified hearing aid specialist. They are taught that your husband might get some relief at night by tuning a quietly playing radio to static. He should be able to find a tone that mimics his ringing and it will give him relief. At least that is how I understood this. If you have any questions, email me and I will ask dh.

My fave singer Kristin Chenoweth has severe Meniere's & suffers from hearing loss. I cannot fathom how she produces the crystal clear tones she does (I have seen her live)with such a debilitating balance & hearing disorder. When I saw her on Broadway (Promises, Promises), I noticed that every solo had a table, chair or something she could lean on if needed. The show must go on!
My BIL's brothers wife has this as well, & boy howdy, it has changed her life.
Prayers to you & all with this disease.
Hopefully Marly's hubby can clear this up more easily! |

Hey,
Well, I take a motion sickness pill that they perscribed (meclizine) and they say limit your salt intake. I have a noise in my ear most all the time, mine sounds like the hummm of an electric fence. Over the years ( I have had it for 10+) it has gotten better. But yes, there are days that that everything is spinning ... and at one point It felt like my eyes were bouncing in my head! So I lay down and close my eyes and pray for it to pass! I am almost deaf in on ear ... So get hubby checked ... mine started like that and went in to the dizzy part fast ... I can remember pulling my car over on the side of the road on several occasions and sleeping it off!

Hi Teri: I have a brother-in-law who was just diagnosed with Meriere's. Some days he is sooooooo dizzy he cannot even drive a car. How long have you had this? What are you doing to control it? Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks.

There are many causes of tinnitus. Hubs recently went through a bad bout, & he bought an over the counter ear wax cleaner & then we also put lavender oil on a cotton ball (NEVER DIRECTLY IN EAR) & a couple days later he was driving to work & something popped to the point that he was dizzy; he said it felt like his whole ear opened up. He has been "ring free" for over a month. |
