Peppermint Tea with honey might help Trish.

I am not diabetic, My Dr. said he'll test me earlier that normal. I weigh WAY less than I thought. So that's good! All three of us got the plague, and have been sick for over a week. It has had the morning sickness worse. b6 is awesome, when I can keep it down! So far the best thing for me is constantly eating 1/2 oz of cheese. I can only find one of our sea sick wrist bands, but it works for a minute!

I am planning a secret rendez-vous with gravy on Friday.

I figured out the value of having a bff with a gastric bypass.. You can order two meals and not look so Jabba the Hut, because she is just going to pick at your plate anyway.

Whoops, my Bad. I missed the part about the diabetes. Don't be drinking Pepsi!!!

I've also heard that having a protein snack before bed helps.

I'm not trying to give medical advice or tell you what to do, but I know by and large people feel pills are not as bad as shots. I'm a type 1 diabetic, and if I had a choice I would choose insulin (shots) every time over pills, pills have a lot of side effects (including heart disease-if you read the inserts it's scary all the ide effects of all the pills for diabetes). But, insulin is natural and even naturally should be in your body and except for if you take too much-low blood sugar, or weight gain, there is no side effects.

That being said seems like you are doing your best.

It's not exactly a real chicken fried steak but gets me through sometimes, go to my site www.heathersrecipereviews.blogspot.com and click on Across America and find the cowboy chicken fried steak, I'm not a huge fan of it's gravy (I need to work on that) but it's diabetic friendly and as long as eaten in moderation (the portions it says) it shouldn't raise your blood sugar, you could use whole wheat flour instead of white for even better chances of it not effecting your blood glucose.

Congratulations, hope the morning sickness subsides soon.

Don't worry about your age. You can make all the plans in the world and there will be some surprise along the way to make you throw your hands up in the air! Being a bit older as a parent can be a great blessing.

This probably not the "correct" answer but Pepsi helped me alot. A fountain soda, not a can or bottled soda. Something about the syrup supposively calms the stomach. I'm sorry you're going through this right now. But it won't last forever, I promise. I've also heard the Vitamin B12 is suppose to help.

I, too, stopped reading books, Trish. The one that was the kicker was this article in Parents Magazine about how most marriages fall apart 9 months after their first child is born. I was about 7 months along, lying in bed reading, looked over at my sleeping husband and thought, "Who was the editor for this story? Seriously, they thought this was a good idea to put in a magazine read by women EVERYWHERE?" My second thought was, "If I leave now, I could be in St. Louis by daybreak...." and that was the last ANYTHING I read about pregnancy, babies, whatever, until I filled out my ppwk at the hospital.

I don't think what you're doing is wrong--we did just fine. I had a c-section, other than being REALLY sick with the anathestic, it was a breeze. My recovery was easy, she's a happy, healthy child and that's all you really want in the end, right? I had a terrible bout with high blood pressure the week she was overdue that put me on bedrest (well, my version, at any rate) and she was wedged in the birth canal and I was still only 4.5 cent. dialated after 18 hours of labor, which is why we went the c-section route I ate 5 meals a day and absolutely like clockwork. I had breakfast, lunch, dinner and 2 small snacks in between. I ate healthier than I'd EVER eaten, ever and I only gained 21 lbs without really trying. Just take care of yourself, and remember that a healthy you is a healthy baby.

And don't sweat it--my dad was 50 when I was born so at my graduation, people thought he was my grandfather :)

How about trying SEA BANDS - that are marketed for cruises. Lots of my patients find them helpful.

I would love to pop chocolate, but I'll have gestational diabetes, if I don't already. No matter how thin, healthy you are, every woman in my family, on Mom's side gets it. I had it before, 5 years ago. Last time I lost weight when I was pregnant, and didn't have to take insulin, just metformin. I am trying to be good. All I want is a chicken fried steak with country gravy and obriens, with two scrambled eggs. But I haven't given in.

I think vitamins are the answer. I am going to the Dr on Friday. I have been losing my vitamins, if you know what I mean. Yesterday I ate Owen's Gummi vitamins, and they stayed down, and it was the first day in two weeks that I wanted to sit up straight. So I worked on Dotees, and felt like myself.

I read pregnancy books the last time, and it just made me anxious. I already know what to expect, and birth was a nightmare last time, so I am just trying to be. I picked my OB?GYN because the clinic is one mile away. I know I'm having a c-section, so no midwife. I'm the whatever mom. It feels better this way. Last time I was so crazy, I didn't even use nail polish.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. Next I'll try some tea. licorice was a sad failure. Wish me luck!

Jonni,
I am PRego because I didn't buy a 2012 calendar. Really, it's just part of our plan to be the oldest parents at graduation. Now we each have a kid to push our wheelchairs. And it is pretty funny that my name is P.Rego.

Lemon balm tea . I make mine about tablespoon of lemon balm leaves. One tea bag bring to boil . Add sugar or honey. Works great . If you can't find lemon balm send me an e mail and I will send you some leaves. Goggle it and you should find some info on it. Good luck.

I'm stickin' with my Cal/Mag/Zinc supplement! Once I started taking it the awful morning sickness quit the last time around.. There was something else, maybe flax seed oil or cod liver oil that was supposed to help? I remember reading it somewhere and I don't remember where, I read so many midwifery/natural childbirth books this last pregnancy if I had bought each book I could open a library with them all!!! With my other two I used dill pickle slices (hamburger ones), cold water with lemon juice in it, licorice, and I made sure not to go too long without eating something. I don't know how healthy they are but I fell in love with "BellyBars" and they helped and I also never went anywhere without some candy and chocolate with me because a piece of chocolate or two goes a long way! (In fact I still carry my emergency chocolate and eat a square when I need a pick me up!)

Wow, Trish--exciting news, but yuck to the M.S!!! I never had it, but my sil did terribly. She lived in Boston at the time, and on the way to work in grid lock traffic, she'd have to just open the door and ralph on the expressway.

She always sucked on candied ginger, and she never let her stomach get really empty--always saltines and ginger ale, toast, etc. Something benign.

Good luck!!!

My OB/GYN said lemonade and suck on lemon wedges. It's not working like it did last time, but at least it doesn't curdle. I feel like I have constant motion sickness. Last time I was sick for 18 weeks. Think good thoughts for me. All I want to do is lay on my side and watch Ugly Betty.

Saltine crackers, burnt toast, eat often and just a little at a time. Sip cold water.I used to keep a wash cloth in a bowl of ice water and when I began to feel sick, that was always a big help. I would think Lemonade would be a bit to acid. I know I couldn't drink juice. But it goes away at some point and you will start to feel better.
