I've had tennis elbow since August and it's not improving. Any natural remedies you can suggest?

AH the joys. I never had it until I bashed my elbow one day at work. A few days later I woke up and couldn't bend my arm. The clinic just wrapped it and said to rest it. It was my chiro that said I had tennis elbow. **Grand ;( ** I have the band and used it for a while and hadn't had issues in months. Then the first real storm of the year came in and ow. Back to not moving it. At least within a couple of days the storm had moved on and my elbow stopped hurting. Now I am a barometer!

Had tennis elbow in my right arm many years ago but it has pretty much gone away . . . I did have steroid injection one time (we're talking years ago!) and I have worn the band. Now I'm dealing with "golfer's elbow", same arm. It comes and goes and I find that I have to be careful about how I position my arm when I sleep. But I'm also seeing a chiropractor now for chronic, one-sided low back pain that is pretty much a result of working as a caregiver for a totally dependent, totally disabled adult female with a severe traumatic brain injury. I think that some of the arm issues are related to this as well. I've been doing this work for 3 1/2 years. The chiro is working on my arm as well. I just had to do something before it all (back, arm, etc.) gets worse.

You know I'm going to blame you for my "new" tennis elbow! I had it in my right elbow off and on for years but ever since this post my left elbow has been really painful! So thanks alot, LOL! Seriously I came back here to read what advice the other ladies have been given you. Think I'll try the band and the Tiger Balm. If that doesn't help I'll try a chiro. Hope yours is better!

Sorry your chiro is leaving!! now what???

Might want to find a massuse who dose deep tissue massage. Find some Tiger Balm at your local drug store to rub in at the site of pain. It has capscasian in it I think

I had this problem for about a year and also used the bands

Sometimes while just walking around, the simple pull of gravity on my arm would make that tendon really hurt. Had thought about the steroid shots but was cautioned that they hurt. (Got those for migraines and true,-they hurt, but were a TEMPORARY godsend.

Is there a repetative action you do throughout the day that puts strain on your arm?

For me it was picking up tall buckets of water the incorrect way

Thank you, again, for all the suggestions. I noticed that when I wake in the morning the pain is excruciating if my elbow is straight!?! Also, our local chiropractor just told us he's closing his office in our town. Dianne in the Hudson Valley

I think this is what I have. My arm has been so sore, even to the touch. I can hardly open anything - doors, jars, turning the key in the car. It will send a pain to the elbow area.

I too am going to try some of these things. I wonder if my insurance will cover acupuncture. There's a place in town that does it.

Wow! Thank you everyone. I will try each of those remedies. I have been wearing the band and (I'm embarrassed to admit) popping Aleve but, not surprisingly, it's still painful. I'm right handed and it's my right elbow that is inflamed so it's hard to remember to use my left hand. Dianne

My husband have a bad case of tennis elbow. He usually ask me to massage it for him. Also he use ben-gay, tiger balm or elbow wrap. Also his chair handles are padded with those gel so it somehow relieves the pain (forgot what it is call...) will find out soon.

When mine flares up I just give it a gently massage, that seems to help. If it's real bad I do the ice therapy.

I did find a band(?) to wear around my elbow, at Walgrens. Not sure if it helped or not.

I have had episodes of tennis elbow several times. Physical Therapy taught me to ice the areas up to 4 times a day for 10 minutes each time . Take some small paper cups and fill then with water and freeze. Peel back the paper from the top and apply the ice all over the sore areas directly for 10 minutes. It gets a little messy with the melting ice but if you are consistent for about 2-3 weeks, it does help a lot. Since we use our elbows constantly, they keep getting inflamed all day long so the ice helps to take out that inflammation. Tincture of time is what this injury takes but the ice sure helps along the way. I hope this will help! It is so frustrating to get rid of!!

I had a tennis elbow on both sides on the same time and it sure take a lot of time to heal . My doctor told me all I have to do is take it easy and rest a lot, and that it can take a long time to heal. For me that was about a little more then a year.

The only real natural remedy for tennis elbow (or it's flip side, golfer's elbow) is time. It can take a year for tennis/golfer's elbow to heal.

Anti-inflammatory herbs help. Two that have the properties of aspirin (salycilates) but that don't irritate the stomach are White Willow Bark and Meadowsweet. Both make a nice tea. You'll need to drink at least three cups a day, every day.

You could use a "Band-It" (Google it) every day, even wear it to bed at night, to take stress off the inflamed tendon. Of course, try not to use that arm too much while it heals. Even little things like lifting dinner plates up onto the cabinet shelf can set you back.

Edited to add: I've also heard that acupuncture can be helpful. I've never tried it, so I don't know. I once had ultrasound therapy for a bad case of golfer's elbow, but I can't say it really did much in the long run except cost me big bucks.
