Anyone else suffer from this? I just got home from the hospital last night, this being my second hospital stay in a little over a year for pancreatitis. I have had all of the tests done, all of the blood work done and every other thing that they can think of done. Everything has come back normal. They have no idea what is causing this. One of the doctors said that he wished something would have come back on one of the tests so that they would know what was causing it and they could treat it. Right now, I have them scratching their heads as they told me I can usually tolerate pain very well, but this time it did me in. I'm just so glad to be home. I would love to hear from others who have this and find out what they have done or are doing about it. I feel really lost right now.

Hi Marcy,
I've had pancreatitis twice in past years. At first they thought I was having attacks because my gallbladder has stones and was backing fluids up so they removed that but I had another bout after that. Eventually the drs. did an ERCP which scopes that area and if they see a problem they can surgically treat it at the time they do that scope. With me they found the muscle around the duct leading to the pancreas was going into spasms so they cut that muscle and released the pressure. That was in 1998 and I've been free of pancreatitis since. They attributed the spasming to me having fibromyalgia. No idea if this is something that might help you but it sure did me.
Best wishes.

My husband has it as well. He was in the hospital last year for a week with it. That was his third hospitalization with it. He is also one who has the MDs stumped--his labs always come back normal, he had an ERCP, MRCP, CTs etc that are all normal. We've changed our diet (and it wasn't that bad to begin with) he doesn't drink, he doesn't have a gall bladder.. and yet he still gets flare ups. Since his last hospitalization, he decided to actually use herbs I've been researching and they have helped. He has several other health issues as well and I do believe it is all related. What he has found very helpful is taking digestive enzymes before and sometimes between meals. We've used several different brands and the ones he's had the best go with are from Life Extension. New Sun and Nature's Sunshine also have very good enzymes. He also takes probiotics daily and the Gastro Health formula from Nature's Sunshine. There are some herbs and enzymes that he takes only when he is feeling a little "off" and it usually either keeps the pancreatitis from flaring up or lessens the degree of pain and duration of the flare up. Last year, he started with a flare up in June and it didn't subside until after he was out of the hospital at the end of July. He's had a couple of minor flare ups since, but with the herbs and enzymes he is doing tons better. Prior to that, he would flare up every month or so for at least a week. I am wondering if maybe it is related to chemicals in food? He does far better when we have more grassfed and organic foods to eat than when I have to get by with stuff from the grocery store (which I don't like to do, but sometimes you just gotta). He's been to see specialists, etc and no one can figure it out so we don't bother going to the doctor with it unless it gets to the point where he just can't tolerate the pain--and he has a very high pain tolerance.
