I've been sick for the past week and can't figure out what it is. First I felt sick, then I started coughing real bad, now my throat is so sore i can hardly swallow...I went to the dr. and he said it was some kind of infection so he gave me antibiotics. The cough is looser now so that's better, but I've lost ten pounds from not hardly eating anything. I've been eating ice cream for the past three days cause my throat hurts so much. I was also running a fever till today. I might add that just before I got sick, I'd been working for two weeks at a job that usually requires two people, I was doing everything by myself, and it was hot, the room where I spent most of my time was about ninety degrees. The rest of the hospital was cool, for some reason, the a/c just wasn't working where I was. So I wondering, did the heat make me sick? Maybe I was just pushing myself too hard. But I still don't know how I got an infection, I haven't been around anyone who was sick. I called in sick today but I have to work tomorrow, think I'll be all right. I do feel a little better. Just don't know why I got sick in the first place.

You might consider some lobelia or mullein.

I went to the Er last Friday cause I felt so bad--they say I have acute bronchitis but I look at the medical reports and the word that keeps appearing is "Asthma". I've never been diagnosed as having asthma so I'm going to make an appt. to see a pulmonary specialist. I had bronchitis three times last winter and I never used to get it. they have me on Prednisone and an inhaler, which helps some, but I worked today and coughed a lot. I can't do anything that requires exertion, like mowing my yard. In fact, I get exhausted just pushing carts around the hospital. i'm also going to try a vitamin supplement to boost my immune system. there's a liquid supplement i've been meaning to try from the place where I had my yoga class. I'll get over this, but I just hate feeling so run down. I didn't know you could get asthma as you got older but I looked in my medical book, and you can.

I concur with Alee.

As for the throat and ice cream, I know it's tempting. But, I learned 30 years ago when I had my tonsils taken out that no ice cream for sore throat recovery. BOY was I MAD! I had been being told by every one oh after your surgery you get all the ice cream you want, and then when I asked to be told no. Boy was I soooooooo upset!

Any way, it's something about the milk causing fleym (sp).

Stick to broths, and non milk frozen treats-Popsicles and the like.

I would guess that the wild swings between temperatures, and the stress took down your immune system which allowed you to catch something you normally would have been able to resist. I hope you feel better soon!!
