I have had a cold/cough/possible lung infection (not diagnosed) for over a month. saw Doc about a week ago...gave me a puffer and prescription cough syrup and sent me home. I hack all day, but get along alright...it is at night that I can't fall asleep because of the crazing nagging tickle/cough...any remedies that you could thing of would be appreciated.
I have tried honey/lemon/ginger tea and doesn't seem to help

Not sure if this would help you or not but sometimes I get that at different times of the year when its this dry nasty tickle in my throat and I can't stop coughing and I too get it mostly at night. I have a water vaporizer and I put a few drops of peppermint essential oil in it and it's just amazing. I've had to do that this week, because it started up again. Hope you find something that helps you! :)

I have asthma and horrible sinus problems. I have problems worse during the spring and harvest. Now that the corn tassles are here I have a constant tickle in my throat that drinking something (non-alcoholic) can clear. I tried some vick vapor rub under my nose last night and slept like a baby. You may want to just try a couple things if you have them around to see what will help. My DH for years swore by those nose strips.

Go down about 1/2 way on the page and there is a write up on Flaxseed tea for a cough. After reading that click on it and it will take you to a disclaimer for cough remedy. Scroll down and you will see what other people have tried.

I have asthma and at times the cough will be so bad (autum usually) I take really strong prescription cough syrup. Not a good habit to get into. I now drink an herbal mixture everyday that contains mullein and the really bad cough seems to be kept at bay. I buy the organic cut from Bulk Herb Store and have not had adverse issues arise. I have from time to time inhaled the steam from the steep of my mixture and it REALLY helps to open up my airways and I feel a calm in my lungs.

I hope you feel better soon -

We have had amazing success with this recipe: http://www.food.com/recipe/homemade-cough-medicine-56268 and it's not horrid to choke down either--the kids think it tastes like Chinese food :)
