I have a rash on my upper body that I am pretty sure is caused either by my body wash, or one of the laundry detergents I use. The rash is only on the part of my body covered by clothes. Since I have stopped using the body wash and the detergent, no new spots have appeared, except when I accidentally wore a shirt that had not been rewashed
My question to you farmgirls is what, if anything, can i put on this rash to hekp it go away more quickly?

Hey Holly
I took your advice and went to see a doctor today. Not an allergic reaction to anything-it is a fungal infection-yuck!-but at least i have pills and can treat it correctly.
Now to find distractions for itching.:)

Thanks Holly, So far no new bumps have come up, but I rewashed everything I planned to wear this week. I am using kind of a combination of vaseline and a derma cream and the itching seems to be kept at bay. My mom came out with a very similar rash to this last fall and the doctors never found the cure. Hers finally just ran its course I think, and I dont want to ask her about it becaause then she and my dad(especially) will worry about it. We are both hypothyroid and there are some indications that could be the problem. Thyroid levels were normal last month but I am told this may just be something that has to run its course. Luckily it seems to still be in area covered by clothes. Not too itchy yet.

I've used a hydrocortizone cream for things like this. They make one that's in a lotion form for Eczema...it's not as thick and greasy. I've been dealing with dermatitis and rosacea. My dermatologist recommended using the free & clear detergents (but I hate the smell). I splurged and bought Dreft (also recommended.) It has a faint baby smell I like, but I don't smell like an infant! I've been using an organic goat's milk soap and it hasn't healed (as it shouldn't) but it hasn't irritated. The quicker you can figure out what is causing it, the better off you'll be. I've struggled with this for years and excused it as one thing or the other forever. Don't let it go too long before you seek professional help! Don't forget - it could be your lotion too, if you use any. I'm down to an organic sulfate/paraben free - called Deep Steep. It's all I can tolerate now. I wish you luck and less itchies!
