Ok farmgirls, I have a question. I sweat. ALL the time. Profusely. I stopped using antiperspirant a couple years ago because I didn't feel it was a safe product. I had been using a essential oil based deodorant that I really liked. Covered any "odor" but holy moly...girls, seriously, the sweat is ridiculous.

The only place I am sweating is from my armpits, its not an all over thing. But it doesn't seem to matter if I'm hot, cold, active, sitting at the computer, wearing a sweatshirt or a tank top, whatever.

Mostly I wouldn't care, except that with that much sweat I go through two shirts a day, which increases the laundry. Also, some of my clothes are now so "sweat stained" they are just nasty to wear if I'm leaving the house.

I've had a lot of things suggested to me. Someone said it was hormones (I'm 31), and to just deal. Someone said it was because I was eating food that didn't agree with me. (I really have a very boring diet, though.) Someone else said it could be something as simple as the fabrics I'm wearing.

Ideas? Does anyone else have this problem? What do you do about it? Is there ANYTHING to use as antiperspirant that is safe? What did people do 150 years ago...or didn't they worry about it?

Yes I would have it checked out especially if you have had insomnia, sensitive to heat, hot flashes, tired, easily worn out, rapid change in weight, irregular heartbeat, etc are signs of Graves Disease (along with other symptoms). I have had graves disease for over 5 years now (just turned 30 a few months ago). Thankfully they have meds and I am in remission again. Although I now always have, even when in remission, issues with the heat since I was diagnosed.

amy,, i agree with the pomeo. being changed to help you with this. some are probably hormones, but some could be chemicals in your environment also. they mimic our hormones and block the receptor cites for the real stuff. so any new things lately? couch rug paint cleaners etc? just a thought. i know coffee can make sweats worse. i have heavy hot flashes. i hate them. i dress so i can yake a jacket off and cool off. i dress in layers. wish i had more ideas. sherrye

I am currently taking a homeopathic remedy for hormonal issues and cysts. I have been taking it for about six months. I am thinking perhaps I should talk to my homeopathic doc about this and see if there is something she can tweak or if she has any suggestions. Thanks ladies!

Amy, I second what Holly has suggested. Sometimes excessive sweating can be a sign of something deeper and maybe even something that holistic care could help with. *hugs* I hope this gets undercontrol for you soon!

Amy, I would have a doctor check into this. I have the same issue but not as severe. It may be a thyroid issue, who knows. But, I would check into this further and see if there is a solution to this, instead of just dealing with it. I hope you find some answers.

Amy
I have always been the same way. There are some pretty heavy duty anti perspirants that will help (Certain Dri) but they are loaded with aluminum.
I feel your pain, as I was always picking whites, blacks, or prints that would not show pit stains.
Funny thing, I am now in menopause, & my pit sweating has decreased dramatically, & moved to other areas.
I wish I could be of more help, but outside of super charged anti perspirants & botox (WTF?), I don't know of anything else. & although I know this is of little consolation, it is very healthy to sweat. Shows an efficient body.
So here's to "self efficiency"
