Posted - Mar 01 2011 : 9:06:24 PM Hey, ladies, My sister is about to do this with her doctor's support. The science behind the hormone end of it escapes me, but how could you not lose weight on a prolonged diet of 500 calories per day? And where are they getting this HCG? Her dr. is doing homeopathic drops rather than shots, but it still seems very suspect. She's smart, informed, and I respect her choice, but I am concerned. |

Posted - Feb 28 2011 : 05:34:54 AM My adult daughter did this, but I wasn't in agreement.
She's an RN and took the pills at first, then after that, she gave herself her own injections.
The hormone is supposed to help prevent hunger pains.

Posted - Feb 20 2011 : 11:34:18 AM I have a group of friends that did the diet. Lost weight but gained it back. One friend lost 10 pounds but cost her $150.00 and what ever she spent on food. That's $15 a pound. Weight Watchers is less expensive and a healthier choice for a lifetime eating change. When it comes to weight loss the only true method is eating fresher, less processed foods in smaller proportions and exercise. ![](icons/icon_smile_cool.gif)

Posted - Feb 09 2011 : 07:17:52 AM Hormone shots are out! Another crazy diet that is making someone laugh all the way to the bank! YOU NEVER mess with hormones. 500 calories is not enough and anyone would lose weight eatng only that much. Steer clear!

Posted - Feb 08 2011 : 7:59:42 PM I know a LOT of folks who have done this and seem to be successful. It's not for me...500 calories a day is not healthy, and if you need to take a pregnancy hormone, it makes me wonder. Be careful, ok?

Posted - Feb 08 2011 : 12:23:30 PM The drops or shots are expensive. The diet is the kicker 500 calories a day. No fats. and with that anybody would lose weight.

Posted - Feb 08 2011 : 10:58:36 AM I've never heard of this - hcg is the hormone produced by your placenta when you are pregnant - something about that doesn't quite jive with me....I'll need to do some research
