Ok, so my sweet little boy was born 3 months ago. YEAH! Everything was great with me physically until 3 weeks ago. I started bleeding liek a stuffed pig!!! If you want to stop reading now, I might get a little graphic but I need to know if anyone else has experienced this.

I have had several large clots come out...several a day and heavy HEAVY Bleeding, non stop for 3 weeks. Is this normal after pregnancy? Docs don't know what is wrong but put me on Provera for 10 days to regulate my cycle/system.
Has this ever happened to anyone else? I am really worried as both my Grandma's and an Aunt had complete hysterectomy's after having their children and at young ages. I am 31 now.

After I had my first, I remember some bleeding, but nothing major. He was born natural. My second came with an emergency c-section. It was awful! I have no tolerance of drugs. Anyway, I bled for about 2 or 3 months after he was born, basically non-stop, at times it was heavier than my usual period, but I don't remember it every being as bad as you are describing.

please continue to see your doctor until you feel everything is back to your normal. I'am not a big doctor person, but loss of bleed is not a good thing.

Thanks Zahara, I was thinking the same thing. My placenta came out almost immediatley after the delivery and honestly, being drugged up and excited, I know it was normal but that was about it. I just have never heard of any woman going through this after having a baby. Heavy periods- yes, long and heavy, no...Thanks for all you help ladies!!!!

I would agree with see doctor. bleeding for three weeks non-stop if nothing else would be rather draining. when you delivered the placenta was it examined for complete detachement? Not knowing, ask the doctor would a sonogram show anything like - ah here is some extra tissue. this might be something like that. Your body is saying wait this is not suppose to be here, lets get rid of it. And yes, up to two months afterwards, with hormone changes and everything. I know, casually, some people who have had a D&C, when not pregnant to resolve excess bleeding as that would vacuum everything out. I would try that long before even thinking about having a hysterectomy.

This bleeding has nothing to do with the post birth bleeding. That only lasted about 4 days with me and I was healed. This has started close to 2 months after that stopped.

I was a few months shy of 40 when I had my daughter, I had a terrible delivery and never bleed like your describing. I bleed heavy for about a wk or so but it sounds like you are bleeding much heavier then that. I am NOT a person who goes to the DR. very often BUT, If I were you, I would go see another Dr. for another opinion, if for nothing else at least it may put your mind at rest.

Thanks for the ideas. I am not breast feeding. This is WAY more than a regular period bleeding...I am soaking a super plus tampon in an hour and have to wear a pad to catch the rest. The Clots are larger than 2 quarters together and some are thick and some are thin. I have never really had a problem before and I was a ON the dot cycler myself before my pregnancy. It is just so weird!!!

A little background:

I have an amazingly on cue cycle. I got pregnant with Zoe when I shouldn't have. We had Zoe here at home unassisted. Neither Zoe or I have been to see a doctor yet and she is already 7 mnths old. At about 3 months I got a really heavy cycle that lasted for about 2 weeks. I did not go to the doc. It went away. I have gotten it again off and on without regularity and it always goes away. Are you breastfeeding? If you are, it's more than likely NOT your period. It's just breakthrough bleeding.

NOW< that being said, if youhave a family history of reproductive organ problems, then I would say get checked, otherwise I would ventrue to bet that it's just breakthrough ESPECIALLY if iyou are exclusively breast feeding....
