Hey all..just wondering what those with diabetes have to offer on info..my husband was diagnosed when he was 5...takes insulin everyday. His a1c was 13 in july..really bad! They found cataracts in his eyes this week that he has to have surgery for. He is only 24. I have been trying to switch to all organic but its been hard lately for some reason. What do yall do to help keep your sugars in check? What supplements do you recommend? I want my hubby around for a long time and somethings gotta give! I think this has scared him a little bit...good thing its something fixable. Its gonna be a tough road because I have a horrible sweet tooth..but I wanna support him in a change for optimal health! Thanks for all your help!

Leanne, I am not diabetic, but my hubby is. He has been for several years now. He's on the pills and sometimes has to take shots when he's home if his levela are too high. He had both eyes done at 50. He is a truck driver too. So it's really hard for him to eat right out there. He tries though. When he's home I fix mostly things I have grown and our own meat I've raised.

He takes cinnamom capsules. He drinks apple cider vinegar. He takes lots of vitamins. He tries to walk as much as he can.

Your hubby needs to stay away from all things white. A friend of mine feeds her husband a very high protien diet. Lots of eggs and meat. He is doing great. And he takes insulin. He has to find what works for him and stick with it. I hope he gets a handle on this and that he is around a long time. He's still very young. You are on the right track with the organic foods too. And he can have some sweets but has to limit them and then excercise.

Kris
