Well, baby Charlie is now 7 months old and I am still fighting those pesky purple stretch marks. My tummy has gone down but now I am left with this purple streaks if you will. They are really deep and not so really pretty.
Any ideas how to move along the good riddance process?
hugs

I like the lavendar soap. And I'm not a huge fan of lavendar scent, but theirs I like!

Sarah: what kind of Dr. Bronner's do you use? I was going to try some too because I don't like using the same type of soap all the time, but I didn't end up buying any because they had a bunch of different kinds. Thanks :)

Since I switched to Dr. Bonner's soap for my body soap, I have noticed a huge decrease in color of my stretchmarks. I just had my baby 2 months ago, and I still had nasty red ones from my first child over 2 years ago. All of them started fading when I switched soaps. But I still have them, and I see them as badges too. :)

Mine are almost faded away, can barely see them. Oh, my baby is 40!

Mine have pretty much disappeared after about 7 months after having back to back babies. I have been using Burts Bees Thoroughly Therapeutic Body Butter and I can't believe what a huge help that was. Well between that and drinking lots of water! Vitamin C rich foods will help sooo much too (Think Green!). I put it on as soon as I get out of the shower since my skin is still damp so the lotion will soak in better. It's not greasy at all. I was using Bio oil until I read the ingredients. Then I felt bad because we could hardly afford the Bio and it has mineral oil in it. I also used the mama bee stuff from burts bees but my skin really clicked with the Thoroughly Therapeutic. I wish I could buy something organic but I can't afford it at this point. I used Organic extra virgin olive oil during my first pregnancy and hardly got any stretch marks. I got all mine pretty much from my 2nd! I quit using the olive oil because now that I have 2 kids its too hard to wait for it to soak in after a shower so I use a homemade olive oil/sugar scrub once a week to hydrate and exfoliate. Just keep experimenting with different things until you find something that works for your skin type! Once you do, you will glow! The stretch marks might not ever go away and I thought I would never wear a swim suit again but now I am ok with them. I'm a mom and proud of it :D

I just started using dry brushing in hopes of eliminating stretch marks and detoxing. The basic rule is to brush towards your heart. I use a natural hair brush that is too soft to adequately brush hair. It does make the skin feel good and I can see how the exfoliation might help stretchmarks.

Thank you for all the suggestions, Mary! I am most definitely going to try them out. For the most part, I seem to elasticize back fairly quickly from babies, of course this time I've only lost 10 pds after having Charlie 7 months ago and the stretch mark thing.
If nothing else, the brush exercizes sound heavenly! Thanks you for helping out. :D

This will get better on its own over the years. You can try adding vitamin A, C and E rich foods to your diet, and doing dry skin brushing. There is no miracle cure for stretch marks- but these ideas may help!
There must be intructions online, but dry skin brushing stimlates lymph and circulation, and can help heal a LOT of skin problems. It also exfoilates. For me to write it out, it seems like a crazy lot of work, but it's not. I'm just being detailed.
You use a natural bristle body brush or a complexion brush, depending which part of your body you are treating. (I know where the stretch marks are, but this is an all-over treatment.) You brush in circles, like you are polishing yourself. Work from the feet towards your heart (Upward), then work your chest/ upper back/ upper trunk towards your heart ( Downward). Some say to work one arm in/ towards you , the other out/ away from you. Looking online would likely be helpful in this! You do your face and neck in circles, too- I don't think you have to work towards your heart on that.
Once you have brushed everywhere front and back, take your shower- warm. Then finish with a cold rinse, like in Finland, lol! When you get out, buff everywhere in circles like you did with the dry brush, but use a slightly coarse towel if you have one. Then put a thin layer of oil all over your body. I really, really like an oil you have to get online. It's THE BEST! I have seen people clear up stuff like bad acne on their back using it, using this method. It's organic cold- pressed jojoba oil from La Ronna Jojoba, in the California desert. I used to get it at the farmer's market when I lived in CA, but they will sell from their website, even if you have to call them. ( Kind of old-fashioned.)
I hope this helps. Getting exercise can help a LOT- I know that can be hard when babies are so young. If you want to apply a cream, look for something with shea butter, cocoa butter or emu oil in it, just to nourish the skin. I do swear by the La Ronna jojoba, and topicals alone proably won't work- the dry skin brushing and/ or exercise are part of the program. Tell your husband I said getting a massage from someone who specializes in postpartum health issues and / or abdominal massage, could be very helpful- and might need to be repeated!!
