Hi girls -

Have any of you heard of an aura migraine? No headache - just black & white zig-zag lines in the eye and dizziness/nausea? I had this happen to me yesterday for the first time, and a friend of mine said she thought it was an aura migraine?

Thanks!
Luanne

That is an aura migraine. I have had them on and off for years. No pain, but definitly some weird stuff! Aura's and colors, wavy and zig zags. Sight disturbances. I had one bad one where I did get quite sick to my stomach. It went on longer than they usually do. When I first had one I rushed to the Dr. I thought I was having a TIA.(mini stroke) But, he know exactly what it was from the symptoms. My daughter has the regular migraines. I think I'd rather have my kind!

Kristin with this heat the way it is will cause headaches. It's just unbelievable here. The humidity is awful. Thanks ladys for the info on aura migraine's. Elizabeth, mine usually start out black and white but will change to color. What's weird is even with you eyes closed you still see the little lights moving around. Relaxation and sleep does help.

That sounds like what I had about a month ago. Out of the corner of my eye I could see lines and they kept getting bigger. It was really strange for sure. No headache either. But I can't remember being nausious or dizzy.

I sure had a whopper headache all day yesterday. And with only 1 Tylenol it stayed with me til this morning. I think it was stress and heat related. I hate headaches.

I hope you don't get any more of these, Luanne.

Thanks everybody - I'm glad you all agree with my friend that aura migraine is probably what it was - it was pretty scary! I slept all afternoon and felt much better when I woke up.

Hugs,

Sounds like a classic aura migraine. I agree that rest is the best way to get them to stop.

Sound slike what it is. My DH gets them. It sometimes happens after he has been driving for a long time and he sees squiggly zig zags in the corner of his field of vision. His are not black and white, but colored though. He says they don't hurt, but he usually gets really tired after it happens.

Luanne, I've experienced it before but never knew what it was or called. Have gone to eye doctor and she found nothing in the eyes to be concerned with. I found that If I lay down and rest and keep my eyes shut, maybe take a nap, haha when I get up its gone. Would really like to know what causes it. It can really be annoying. I have had a few migraines in my life but that was just extreme headache. This aura migraine is new to me.
