Both my husband and I have had fertility tests and still no baby. I have been charting my ovulation etc. We are planning to go a few months and then may try using the fertility drug Clomid but we really want to do this naturally. Does anyone have any tips or tricks that worked to help you get pregnant. I am 32 and I feel like I cant wait forever. The thought that I will be at least 50 when my kid graduates high school is already freaking me out! Any advice is welcome!

I'm infertile and didn't really have the option of trying to find a fix for it when I was younger. Now after menopause, I am empty armed and wish I had adopted. I need grandbabies to cuddle...so it its definitely something to keep in mind...if you want babies DON'T GIVE UP!!! =) Just relax and try to have fun.

My husband and I still talk of having at least one child. Because of the cancer and all the scans I am still undergoing every 3 months we are not actively trying at this time. I'm 45 but I still have hope that someday I might conceive when we are able to try again. At that time if I don't conceive after a few months I'm going to go and seek medical help. I would love to have a baby and I know that adoption is an option, well an option I would consider but my husband is not quite on board yet.

I have heard that for people who are fertile but are having problems getting pregnant sometimes the over-the-counter medicine Mucinex (guanifenison) can help. It helps by thinning out the mucus in the body including cervical fluid which helps the sperm get through better.

I have talked with my doctor and other than possibly trying clomid in about 6 months if we have no luck (and I'm still not sold on that) we are not going to do any other fertility treatments. I feel like if it is meant to be than things will happen in the next 12 months. If not we will move on.

I had my son when I was 43. I didnt think I would ever have a baby. We tried clomid and injectibles. I have PCOS. I started taking metformin and actually started to ovulate on my own most months. We did the clomid and only once had more than one egg. We did IUI (intra uterine insemination) to increase our chances and that didnt work. We tried the injectibles and once had 8 eggs, bit nothing took. I have been pregnant twice. Both times were taking a break from the treatments.

The first pregnancy I was taking a break from the treatments. They are costly and emotional. When I lost the baby, we tried the fert treatments again for a few months, but nothing happened. Then after deciding that the only pregnancy I had was lost and perhaps this wasnt what God had planned for me, I felt it was time to try to put it behind me. I was 42. Also nearing the end of when Dr will treat you for infertility. We booked a vacation. I was about a week late for my cycle and I decided to take a pregnancy test. just to know...I had never seen a positive one in the many many months of testing. At 4am dressing to catch a plane, I get a POSITIVE. I didnt believe it. I caught the plane and went on vacation, but when I landed DH and I drove straight to a Walgreens and bought 3 more tests. Each one was pos. I called my Dr and they confirmed that the tests were pretty accurate, but a blood test would have to wait a week for us to get home.

Let me tell you my reason for going to Florida....it was to see the BackStreet Boys....I am a big fan. That night while checking out where the venue was, we discovered the BSB were already at the venue. The opening show of the tour was the next night. We walked up and the head of security who recognizes me all the time invited us in the for the BSB Friends and Family Show. Every tour they open up with a private show. We got to go. I had great seats for every show I went to on that tour. I think that was Gods way of saying, that "Your life is about to change...have fun...it wont ever be the same!".

I also want to say that several months after the miscarriage, I was very depressed. I lost the only baby I had ever had. It was more painful than words can tell you. I remember one night, crying alone in the bathtub. It sounds hokey, but I swear I heard the Lord speak to me...and it wasnt in words per se, but he spoke to me. He was trying to help me heal. 2 months later I was pregnant.

During the time off the meds for fertility, I took a homeopathic remedy by a company called King Bio. Its called Menstrual Cramps and Irregularities. I used it both times I got pregnant. I used it to help with cramps and just to be sure I cycled. I feel sure that it helped.

If you are interested, you should seek help before the clock says no for you. Be patient and be ready for a roller coaster ride of emotion. Be ready for your body to not feel like your own some days with all the days at the Dr office.

You are welcome to email me and I will be glad to tell you more about the experience. There is a bulletin board called Fertile Thoughts. I found it after my miscarriage. You would be surprised at how many women are walking this path.

Prayers sent, hugs offered and baby dust sprinkles!

Hi Julie,
I'm a midwife, and a LOT of couples spend 2-3 yrs trying nowadays. Everything has a timing, even if we don't like the timing it has!! There is a very helpful book called Taking Charge of your Fertility that can help identify fertile days. Don't stress on it though! The chapter on cerival mucus is very helpful.
Stress reduction is one of the most important factors for conception. Cortisol wreaks havoc with our hormones, and our wise bodies often prefer not to get pregnant when we worry all the time. The brain may realize what we are worried about, but the body just feels the stress and may react by delaying conception until the stress is lifted. Crazy!
Some people get acupuncture and take chinese herbs. I have really, really seen that help. My back up doctor had women take bromelain or eat fresh pineapple, take a baby aspirin every day, and had both partners take Mucinex for the week around conception. It is also important to stay warm.
Some docs just say, have sex twice a week, and don't pay attention otherwise. Who knows???
I hope a baby is in your near future. I have delivered first babies at home for women ages 41 and 42.

Thanks guys for all your kind thoughts. I never eventhought I wanted kids and then one day I woke up and k ew I wanted to be a mom and it was time. We've been married almost 10 years! We are both a little anxious for this to happen. I just feel like I spend two weeks looming forward to when I might be ovulating and then I spend two weeks waiting to see if I get my period or not. I'm not stressing out over it but it is ALWAYS on my mind. Last week I was 4 days late - which has NEVER happened before and we thought perhaps this was it only to be let down the next day. At the risk of being to forward...it has been really fun trying. I just don't want it to loose it's fun-ness. Does that make sense???? I don't want it to turn I to a "job". I guess really I am just bummed about the false hope that we had last week.

Wehavent told anyone we are trying so I appreciate being able to share this with you all!

I had my daughter at 34. Family life doesn't end at 30!!!

Most people I know that had trouble got pregnant after they quit worrying about it.

I can't really comment to much on it. But we were married for seven years before I got pregnant with Bri. I used the pill and thought with my thyroid being so messed up that I probably didn't have a chance anyway. Well, I went of the pill to give it a try and boom the first time we tried it happened. If I had known, I would have done it earlier and had more!!!! But things just happen.

I counted 14 days after my period ended. That is when I figured we had the best chance. It worked for us.

But stress makes a huge impact.

I think Beth has it right, Julie...kick back and relax. Before Violet, I had never even had a "scare"...and I was forever screwing up my bc pills, and not at all attentive to anything my body told me...I figured, if I COULD get pregnant, surely it would have happened by now with all my silliness! But I didn't. And I still didn't...and when I thought it would be "nice" if it happened, it didn't. So I started stressing and by the time we were ready to try, it was such a worry that it wasn't any fun and I dreaded the "finding out". So we both made a pact that we would just ease off and see what happened. And whatever happened, we would be alright--there were other options if this just didn't work for us (and remember, I was 35, so you're starting EARLY, kiddo :))...

After 2 weeks of not thinking about it and having fun and doing things together to strengthen our marriage, we got Violet.

I'm pulling for you, truly I am...this is the best gift I've ever been given, but don't put too much pressure on yourselves.

Love to you!!!

Hi Julie, My mom had me and my sister when she was in her early 40s and the doctors before that said she would never be able to have babies. It's never to late. Keep trusting in God. He has this all in his hands and no body elses. My parents also adopted before me and my sister were born and got them as little babies they are now ages 19, 18, and thens theirs me and my sister ages 15 and 14. I'll be praying for you!! Hugs!!

My husband and I went through all of that for over 10 years. When we finally gave up and started the adoption process, I got pregnant with my oldest daughter. We have three daughters now. I think the important thing is to relax. We did the clomid and I did get pregnant on it but I lost the baby because of ovarian cysts caused by the drugs. After that we decided to adopt. We went through the whole process and had been accepted when I found out I was pregnant. At that point we had stopped trying, stopped the drugs and focused on something else. We were having a house built and concentrating on that and the adoption. Now I have three daughters 24, 22, and 21. So relax and good luck.
