Any one ever hear of a temperature correlation with having hypothyroidism? I'm confused. Is your temperature supposed to be higher than 98.6? My temp is usually 97-degrees. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Also anyone out there on Armour Thyroid?

Talk to me....

Dear Peapicker....When I went to pick up my script from my pharmacy I was told that it would be very difficult to find in my area. She looked at me as if I were asking for a slice of the moon. I didn't realize how difficult it was going to be so I contacted my Dr. and she found a pharmacy about 20-minutes from where I live...whew!

I go back to the Dr.'s in six weeks for another blood draw and we will see what the levels are. She thinks my hypothryoidism might have some bearing on how high my cholesterol is.

Talk about a domino effect. Geez...when it rains it pours!

I am glad to hear that it is working out for you as I know this will be a life-long deal to be reckoned but I am hopeful this will address all the problems of having hypothryoidism. Of course, this being January in the Great North Woods with very frigid temps only compounds the situation!

Stay warm and thanks for all the insight and info; it is greatly appreciated!

Thats great news Lisa. I can say the one thing I like about the compounded one is that it is in capsule form. I asked the pharmacy what the problem was and they told me they didn't know. I am glad you solved the mystery for me.

Hey all you Armour gals!! My hubby's company(Forest Labs) makes Armour & they have had some bad batches of the pig thyroid that is used to make it. It has to pass VERY STRINGENT qualifications in order to be utilized for the drug.. Well, hubby told me Thurs "Be prepared hun, cause the Armour will be in production full force & then some for quite a while" Hopefully it will be easier to obtain.

Melody, I understand your frustration! I was miserable for years before I finally started getting things straightened out. My Dr. never put me on the synthetic form , but gave me the Armour. Then a few months ago the pharmacy told me they could not get it anymore. So , I now order it from a compounding pharmacy. Where do you get yours? I also take Iodoral, which is an iodine/potassium supplement that I get from the health food store. My Dr. also recommended the Iodoral. I also take one grain of the thyroid med. It takes weeeks or maybe a couple of months to start feeling better. I wish it would work faster , but for me it took a while. I had other issues for a while and anemia was one of them. So, I am not sure how much of my misery was thyroid and how much was all of it. If you want to send me a email and talk I would be happy to answer all of your questions.

Hope this helps..... a little anyway.

Dear PeaPicker,

I was on Synthroid for about a year and stopped taking it...didn't do a darn thing for me. I switched doctors and as of last Thursday started the Armour Thyroid (1-grain/60-mg). I am very anxious to know when everything will start kicking in ---did it take a while for you to reap the benefits of this natural thyroid med? I am constantly cold my joints are a wreck and the fatigue is very disheartening. If this doesn't work I don't know what I will do.

Thanks for replying!

Hi Melody. Yes, I am on Armour Thyroid and my temp is on the low side. It is closer to 98 now , most of the time. I have been on Armour for about three or four years.
