Posted - Feb 18 2010 : 5:22:22 PM Oh I should mention that herbs are great too. Instead of plain water you can make a herbal "tea" and add the vinegar to that. I have dark hair and I like to use rosemary. Just steep the rosemary in hot water like you would make a cup of tea and let it cool. Remove the rosemary and add the ACV and honey if you like. Chamomile is nice if you are blonde.

Posted - Feb 18 2010 : 5:19:01 PM I take a cup of water and mix in a Tablespoon of ACV. Sometimes I add a little honey to that too because my hair is really dry and the honey is great for dry hair. I used to pour it over my hair but now I have it in a spray bottle and spray it through my hair. It's getting long and there is a lot of it so the it is easier to get it throughout my hair with the spray bottle. I'll leave in on for a few minutes and rinse it with COLD water. I know that doesn't sound like fun this time of year but it doesn't take long and makes a big difference.

Posted - Feb 18 2010 : 10:59:32 AM so do you ladies just wash your hair in the sink then? I've been using the baking soda for awhile, and I just take a clump of baking soda in my hand, fill my hands with water from the shower, till it makes kind of a paste, and then slather and distribute. I then just wash with the water from the showerhead. How do you do the ACV rinse?

Posted - Feb 05 2010 : 8:13:52 PM I tried this a couple of weeks ago and only lasted 5 days. I don't know what I was doing wrong, but the baking soda made my hair really dull and heavy feeling. I didn't use the vinegar rinse though, so maybe that would help. We have well water too.

Posted - Feb 04 2010 : 10:23:14 AM I tried it a couple of years ogo, but then I found out that baking soda will strip color, & I am a (ahem) bottle blond & too vain to let go of my blondeness yet, so I have just been using a good Aveda or Avalon Organics shampoo, & do still rinse with ACV weekly. |

Posted - Feb 04 2010 : 07:47:21 AM Tried the baking soda and vinegar last night. It feels gross while you're doing it, but the soda rinses out well. My hair doesn't fell so dried out today. It has a little more shine, but we have well water and it makes it dull anyway.

Posted - Feb 02 2010 : 07:25:48 AM I learned about it from reading more about my curly hair on www.naturallycurly.com
Vinegar is a real hair saver for curly hair! Makes it shiny with defined curls. And NO you don't smell like salad dressing after :)
Shampoo just dries it out and makes it frizzy. If I could I would try to convince every curly haired woman (and man) to go no poo. I did convince my DH. His hair is curlier than mine.
Thanks for posting the information and getting the word out.

Posted - Feb 02 2010 : 06:02:45 AM Well I'm on the bandwagon...I haven't used shampoo since 1/28 - using baking soda and vinegar instead. Will let you know how it goes. So far, man...does it change the feel of your hair! And its so shiny.

Posted - Jan 27 2010 : 8:34:55 PM Elizabeth, I just went over and read your blog. Interesting! I will try it! I have always used baking soda to "strip" my hair (about once a month) and I condition it with Coconut oil.

Posted - Jan 27 2010 : 8:16:48 PM I read alot about the No Poo movement and decided to join in. I've been at it since December 8, 2009 and I really like it. I wash with baking soda and water and rinse with apple cidar vinegar, about a tablespoon in a cup of water for each. My hair is easier to comb out when wet and I started noticing some natural body I had not seen before. At first my hair got a little dry, but I figured out I was using too much baking soda. You just kind of have to adjust as you go from how your hair responds. I'm trying not to use so many products on my body that have such toxic properties to them. If there is a warning label on it about not ingesting it, then I don't want to put it on my body. Now I'm looking for good recipes for shower gel and hand cream. Got any advice?
