Babies come when they come. If her midwife or OB has concerns then they'll move matters along. Otherwise, if it's nice enough out she should keep moving, go for good walks get some fresh air.

I know how your daughter feels, she just wants baby to be here. My daughter was also a week late in arriving but she came in her own good time.

Waiting to hear about baby!

I have to agree with Misty <ducking> :)
1 with pitocin induction, 2 with castor oil (with doctor's permission after head was well engaged). I'll take the castor oil ANYTIME, although Misty's a little braver than I...I only took 2 tbsp!! The explanation I was told is that it causes smooth muscle contraction in the intestines (take too much and you'll believe it...haha), which in turn causes the uterus to contract.
Worked beautifully and the castor oil self-inductions were a breeze, could have delivered by myself!

Well no one loves my answer but it is for sure tried and true! I self induced 3 of my 4 with castor oil with excellent success!!
4 oz of Castor oil mixed with Orange or Peach juice. Drink it down like a shot.
Within 4 hours my labors started (right after my poor body was completely emptied)
and usually within 8 hours I had a baby!
Hope this little fellow arrives soon!!
(Castor Oil has a natural pitocin in it so fair warning...the contractions are a little harder than natural...kinda like a pitocin induced labor. My fourth baby was induced with pitocin and I noticed no difference.)

The one thing that my Dr. said was to walk alot. I was a week over with my second daughter and it did the trick. I don't really believe in taking anything to jump start it unless the Dr. believes it's necessary (like being induced). I know a lot of you believe in the different herbs and I don't in any way mean a put down of them. I just think even they are often used when the results are not fully known of their effect either.

I have to agree with Dawn and Brenda. A romantic rendezvous is a known way to kick start labor.
I always have preterm labor problems, so I'm really no help, but Dr did tell me that labor will go easier if mommy & daddy have been together often during pregnancy. ;)

She could try what started all this, a romantic evening with her husband! That did it for me with baby 3. I hope all goes smoothly for her.

I am all for "mother natures" clock unless there is a medical reason, forcing labor or trying to force labor, just doesn't seem like a smart thing to do for mother or child, just my opinion.
