Posted - Oct 17 2009 : 11:25:53 AM I believe I've had this before when I went to South Carolina this summer. I caught it on the plane, and my ears started to hurt a few hours after I had landed; I was coughing so bad that it was hard to breathe after each coughing fit. The next morning when I woke up, I had a major bloody nose, and then my voice started going in and out. By the end of the night, it was gone and didn't return for seven days.
The same thing is happening now, and it's so hard to sleep with this cough, and I really don't want to lose my voice again! I have vocal lessons every Monday! lol Are there any suggestions as to what can help with all of this?

Posted - Oct 26 2009 : 6:50:31 PM Thanks you guys! I'm actually better now, though I'm still coughing. I felt better by last Monday, but then I caught a cold from the preschoolers that I help out with lol. As for H1N1, I've learned that it's just a different strand of influenza. The body can already recognize the regular flu, so it will mutate slightly so that the immune system can't recognize it. So I'm not all that concerned about it lol But thank you for your concern :)

Posted - Oct 17 2009 : 5:42:44 PM I know your kinda searching for something more natural perhaps.....but I would encourage you to see a doctor if the symptoms get any worse or don't get any better at all. You are very much describing symptoms of H1N1 and so you may want to go get tested. Hope you feel better soon!! |

Posted - Oct 17 2009 : 3:43:36 PM Thanks guys! Right now, I don't feel like doing anything lol, not even walking down to the Co-op. I wish I had stocked up on vaseline and tea... as for the Mucinex, I've tried that before the last time I had all of these symptoms. I think I tried pretty much any medicine my friend thought should work, but it didn't. However, I'll try your idea about the apple cider vinegar :) When I feel like moving my achy body lol

Posted - Oct 17 2009 : 1:36:02 PM My vocal teacher always told me to drink some lemon tea with honey in it. My mom suggests stinging nettle tea also. Both have worked for me........

Posted - Oct 17 2009 : 12:05:35 PM Felica- go to the Co Op and get some Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar. Mix 8 ouces of water with 2 teaspoons of ACV and 2 teaspoons of Honey. Drink every couple of hours. Also buy some Mucinex. Part of the reason you are losing your voice is because of the drainage down your throat. The Mucinex will help you get rid of the drainage as well as the nasty stuff in your lungs. Make sure you drink A LOT of water! Hot water, teas, cold water- whatever. Get lots of rest too!

Posted - Oct 17 2009 : 11:37:46 AM How about lemon and honey with some whiskey? I am so tired of getting sisck every time I get on a plane. All that recycled air with everybody's germs. Next time try to boost before you fly with maybe some EmergenC and echinacea. Also, some vaseline might help your nose and lots of moist air. Good luck and feel better soon. Farmgirl Hugs, MIchele
