I started out this year at 180lbs. That is my heaviest weight ever, and I know that might now seem like too terribly much, but I am 5 foot nothing. So on my small frame- that is more like 250lbs.

Well it has been a hard year to lose weight. I would drop pounds and then gain a few back, then drop some, then gain some. UGH! Just drop it already!! I want to get healthy!!

So over the past couple of weeks, my weight hasn't been going back up so high on my normal weekly swings, and this morning, for the first time in over 2 years, I saw 172 on the scale!! If I keep up the good work, the increased activity and more fruits and veggies in my diet- Maybe by next week I will be seeing the 160's for the first time in over 2.5 years!! I am so excited! Just dropping these first few pounds really makes me see that it is possible for me and that I can continue down the road of weight loss.

YAY!!!

Actually, I'm much worse. Yesterday this pain reduced me to tears. I don't do that often. I seem to have a high threshold and get cranky with myself when I feel so frustrated that I've cried. But last night...well

I haven't been really "following" anything much. I did start the tumeric/bromelain but it's only been a couple days. I had misplaced my pain cream and had turned to the old standbys of peppermint, olbas, and tigerbalm. And although their scents are calming (which is really helpful) they cannot handle this level of discomfort. I had walked a lot the day before at the zoo and then cleaned (somewhat voraciously) at home yesterday. My rht knee has flared which makes Cinderella scrubbing a true "pain" LOL... Last night I needed prescription pain relievers...something I haven't done in a long, long, time. :-( My hubby doesn't get it at all. I'm not broken/bleeding you see. And, he's busy too, and work is work...and... well, you get the idea.

BUT...I have lost ONE pound! ROFL

And, I'm craving cherries! What do you make of that???

How is your anti-inflamitory diet going? Are you feeling any better?

OH...I know what you mean. After munching into a fresh vine/sun ripened tomato...well, there's just no comparison! I have a couple left from the other day...then Sunday is the next farmer's market for me....
Alee Posted - Aug 19 2009 : 11:52:53 PM
T- I bought to many at once and some of them got yucky. I am going to buy some farmer's market homegrown ones on Saturday. It's hard to eat the tasteless yuck ones from the store!!

Prairiehawk...dried cottage cheese? Interesting.

Alee, my friend swears on those weight loss drinks. She has one ever day at work. She "works" through her lunch in her classroom most days, so having a "shake" is easy. I think I'll be taking some of the low carb version to work with me too. I rarely find time for lunch and I think that having something in my stomach will help to stave off the "afterschool" cravings that always hit when I'm tired and worn out from the work day and trying to gear up for my next shift as "Chief Cook and Bottle Washer".....(that translates into MOM duties). My hubby has a new job and will not be at home throughout the entire middle of the week. So for T-W-TH there will be no adult conversation.

Today's "bad" food was Zoo food and Chinese for dinner. Now my chicken/veggies were steamed w/no sauce but there was that eggroll and fried rice. Started out the day with a 1/4 cantaloupe though.... How is your tomato-a-day coming along?

Now that is wonderful news. For the holidays you'll be a lot thinner. Great work. Maybe all the horse-back riding has helped with loosing the weight.

Congrats Alee! Losing weight is hard. I've tried for years and years to get my weight off. I've lost 48 lbs since my surgery, but I really needed to lose it. I just wish I didn't lose it that way. But there is still more for me to lose. As soon as I get back my energy level I'm going to exercise more. I have noticed that since I've lost this weight I'm getting around a bit better than I did.

Alee--congrats on the weight loss! I too struggle with my weight and have exercise issues, but I found this book "Eating Mindfully" that has been a big help. It's all about being aware of what you're eating and how you feel at the time--I'm an emotional eater so lots of times I eat and am not really aware of what or why I'm eating. the mental exercises in this book are great--I've lost five pounds since I started becoming aware of my underlying depression/anger. I don't know any woman who doesn't struggle with weight issues, so it's good to have a forum where we can encourage each other. One idea that has helped came from MaryJane's Outpost--I dry cottage cheese and eat it as a snack. I never could stand to eat cottage cheese before, but for some reason I can eat it dried. Oh, and my dog is on a diet too--last time he was weighed he tipped the scales at 77 lbs. and he shouln't weigh much over 65 lbs. so he's become my weight loss buddy. sounds crazy, but it really does help!

PS I'm struggling with weight too. I've been hovering at 181 for months now, and I'm only 4'8. So I can so relate. At 9 months pregnant I was only 162. And one week after birth only 152. So I don't know what's wrong with my weight being so out of wack at all! So good for you for finally over coming it! I wish I could.

When I'm pregnant because of the nausea my dietician suggest Instant Breakfast, I never thought that stuff was good for you, but looking at it's box, I don't think it's that bad for you and has a lot of nutrients, especially after you add the milk.

Other then that, I just want to let you know most of us can make a sandwich-even pb and J isn't that many calories, and the pb and whole wheat/whole grain bread offer a lot of nutritional value, and take some fruit and still have it be less calories then most of the "diet" shakes, along with offering more nutrition.

My dad just dropped by for a short visit and took me out to lunch. Normally I would get a "Meal" with fries but today I just ordered my sandwich and I did get a regular soda and I should have had diet or water...but I passed on the fries. And I usually love fries, but today it just didn't sound good, ya know? So I am hoping the healthy choices are going to continue to be easier.

When we go to Costco laster this month, I am going to buy a couple of cases of their weight loss drink to keep on hand at work and such. That way I won't be tempted with deli pizza or frozen meals at work LOL

Thanks Gals!

Melody June- I would love to get a PT, but I think my husband needs it more. I might look into that for him. In the mean time we have gotten the P90X workout series and we are going to start buying the equipment to use it. I think my husband and I can do this workout at home and if we encourage each other- we might actually stick to the plan! LOL

That is so GREAT Alee! I know exactly what your saying, about that scale. I have shed many a tears looking at it's ugly face. I tried all kinds of things but finally broke down and hired a personal trainer two months ago. It took all I could muster just to get the nerve to walk in his front door. This whole thing has been so shameful to me. I can't say enough about how wonderful he has been for me. I learned I had shut my own metabolism down by not eating. I have had a eating disorder since high school. Six small meals a day was a nightmare to me, way more than the exercise till I saw the making of a muscle in my arms. LOL
He told me I could not get on the scales anymore. I only lasted two weeks before I fell off the wagon and got on and to my horror had gain ten pounds even though my clothes did not feel any different. Of course I told him and with a smile he said that is why you were not supposed to get on them. He explained again how muscle weighed more that fat and I was gaining muscle. I did not feel better until after six week he asked me why I was not wearing my aqua workout shorts anymore? I said "oh they stretched out of shape and were to big". He just stood there looking at me and it sank in!! OH MY GOSH, I'm loosing fat!! "YES" you are he said. I was over the top excited. I took the scales out of my bathroom and I am not going to get back on them till he says I can.
I am really proud of you Alee!!
