Chereyle
thanks for the advice.
I know what you mean too by gaining ; though I have lost some weight
again.
I cannot go to the pools because of the infections I get
I have a walk in shower in my new master bath;
when we move I will enjoy that
We have a claw bathtub.
I have fell out of it twice and in it once
I use to love it when I was younger ; but now that I have fallen in it and out.
it is dangerous
I only have that and a make do shower for it.
can't wait for the walk-in shower
I think the strengthening exercises is helping.
I am still sore all the time and still pain.
thank you so much for praying .
I pray the Lord will help you all who suffer here.
marjean
I was tested for the tick thing;
I know that I had ticks when I was younger.
I thought maybe I had that too ; but the test showed I didn't ; thank goodness.
I am happy you got to take a long ride.
I have problems riding too.
I only go out of town if I have to and usually it is to someone's funeral
which is usually about a 2 -1/2 drive from here.
Hug sheila

After reading all the posts I wanted to add my two cents worth! There are many illnesses that can give you flu-like symptoms and the doctors don't know where to begin. I got bitten by a deer tick in 2004 and didn't know it. I was sick a month with flu-like symptoms and went down hill from there. It took me going to a homeopathic physician to save my life.
Before the tick I had and still do but they have paled in comparision to the Lyme disease. Here goes, fibro, asthma, reflux, low blood sugar, low blood pressure, migraines, mitro valve prolapse. Which all gave me a range of problems. Since going to the homeopathic lady I have no where near the pain I was having with the fibro. My asthma is treated only by natural med. as well as the reflux. No more mirgraines since. The blood pressure is up to 110/70. But, we do battle all the constant problems the Lyme kicks up. I just went to my primary and they ordered a list a mile long of blood work. The only thing that showed up was hypo-throid but I loose weight not gain. They just sent me on my merry way and didn't know what to do for the Lyme symptoms.
Now, another thing. I had terrible pain in my back right in the middle by the shoulder blades since the fibro years ago. My chiropractor said my back was locked and that she would have to keep working on me and massages to fix it. Well, after starting the treatments she finally got the spot to unlock and I have no more pain!!! It was the best day! So, try any or all of this advise and see if you don't start to feel better. If you are like me you want to get well not just complain. I don't mean you are.
I'm happy to announce that yesterday I went on my first long car ride and outting in 4 years since the Lyme. I'm very tired today but not in bed, so applaude with me.

Marjean

Hi Sheila, I too have fibromyalgia. I was diagnosed in 1995 after months of flu like symptoms. It's a pain in more than one way. I agree with Roxy that getting in a pool definitely helps. Sometimes I'm lucky enough to be able to get in my friend's pool and I can sure tell the difference. I think we need to start a fibro farmgirls link in here cuz I know there are many of us who have it. I so envy the gals who talk about their very full and active day. I wish I could be more so. I've gained a whole person and then some since I was diagnosed and every time I try to get an exercise program going it causes me a big old flare that puts me down for days. When I'm hurting really badly I'll have a nice warm shower and lotion myself with a lavender or menthol spearmint lotion that warms my muscles and gives me some relief. I'll keep you in my prayers and feel free to email me if you wanna talk about fibro. Sometimes talking to someone who understands your pain can help alot.
Gentle huggzz

Thanks Alee
you remember the seizures I had in Jan.
Well, when I went to the bladder doctor ; their nurse
saw where it might have been one of my meds,
I was taking.
So, they took me off that one.
But, of course my family doctor didn't think it was that one.
but,
he took me off any ways.
We have pretty good people at the drug stores where we go.
but of course ; one can't always depend on them.
thank Alee. hugs sheila

Sheila- You might ask your pharmacist to check your medicines to make sure none of them are conflicting with each other. Sometimes the doctors don't notice or don't check as well as they should.

Sheila, do you have a pool near you? I can exercise in a pool and not do so much outside of it. I might try a recumbent exercise bike, but I have a blown disc in my back and a regular bike would kill me.

I guess I meant to suggest the pool and not the amount of time spent.I can do exercises in a warm pool that would kill me on the floor. I use a therapy pool when I get to go, which is not often now, as I am a sahm to a child with Autism. The therapy pool saved me. I truly dont think I would be walking and moving now if I hadnt tried it. I just use the local parks and recs pools. Not expensive either. I also cant swim, but I use the floaty things they have for resistance and stay in the shallow end. If you are comfortable you can try a waist float band.

Robin,
I am not taking eighter of those
I exercise at lest 4 to 5 times a week with a 2 lb. dumb bell
doing strengthening exercise.
because of my other conditions and diseases.
My pain doctor and family doctor
decided this was the best type of exercise for me.
I am in my 50's
I use to love to walk ; but have problems with falling.
I have lost some weight since April the Diabetic doctor said I lost 11-1/2 lbs.
Though I have been doing those exercisers for years.
plus I use to ride a stationary bike until I started having problems with my hip and knees
Ugggg if it ain't one thing it is another
I am glad you have found the right exercise for you,
and the weight lost
I hope you continue to loose as much weight as you want .
Thanks for the advice

Fibro is terrible. I have it too. I truly feel best when I am active. Before I had a little one I did aquacise 5-6 hours a week and I felt great. A side benefit was weight loss, which was good for me.

Are you taking anything like malic acid or turmeric?

Make sure you are drinking lots of water- Sometimes being dehydrated can give you muscle pains (or make it worse in the case of Fibro) and give you nausea.

Sheila Are you by any chance taking meds for cholestrol? I thought I had the worst case of flu ever and for a couple of months, when I finally went to the doctor he took me off my cholestrol meds and it went away, seems after years being on it my body could no longer handle it.
Hugs, Kathy

Karen,
Thank You for your encouragement. I too believe that God is the mighty physician. He controls all things big and small. It is good to be reminded of that, and I appreciate your comment. I was blessed to have spent several years doing Christian counseling to women. What a blessing it was to see what God did in so many lives. But it is easy, to get caught up in every day life, and forget those spiritual markers. I am struggling, but definitely talking to God, about where I am in life. Things have become quite ho hum. Bit by bit, I am making my way back to where I need to be.
Thanks again,
Sheri

Shelia and Sheri,You are both on my prayer list and I will pray for you daily. A verse for you both: Jeremiah 30:17 For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the Lord. God says by our faith we are healed. I have had migrains for 20 something yrs and until I decided hey I have seen what Christ can do and put my faith totally and completly in him it wasnt until then I was healed. Christ can heal you I know first hand he can just keep up your faith hes still working on you! Many blessings,Karen

Sheila,
I am so sorry that you do not feel well. I have some health issues also, but nothing like you have. For about four weeks I have felt that feeling of the flu, or alot of nausea. So, I understand that frustration, it pretty much halts everything that you would like to do. Pain too is a very difficult thing. What are you doing for your fibro?
Hope it all subsides soon, sending a prayer your way!
Sheri
