I have a query for anyone familiar with or dealing with the wonders of Hashmoto's thyroiditis. I've been on Synthroid for over a year now to deal with symptoms (I'm 28) and although my thyroid levels are 'normal' I still feel the extreme fatigue associated with the disease. Do you have any suggestions for helping to combat this? I'm not interested in taking another prescription and would much rather find healthful alternatives to managing this. Any thoughts would be much appreciated!

Cheryl...I have been on Synthroid for over a year now and frankly I feel just as tired as I felt before I was on Synthroid. I am hypothyroid. The dose has remained the same, no adjustments. I wish I could give you some advice, but I really haven't noticed any difference and I too, hate being so tired all of the time. As I am typing this I am having my afternoon cup of coffee just to keep my eyes open!

Hi Cheryl, I'm afraid I don't have the answer. I have been on Synthroid for several years due to nodules and Hashimotos. I can't say much about the fatigue because I have Chronic Fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia for many years before I started the med.

I do know that seaweed is good for the thyroid. I have a hard time eating it myself, but its a good support food. Hope you can find something to help that doesn't leave you so tired. blessings Phyllis

Hi Cheryl:
I took Synthroid for a while, but discontinued my use for it because I has feeling so fatigued all the time. You should discuss this with your doctor. But, for me, I felt 100% better after I quit taking the med. I'll check back to see what the other farmgirls will say. I am interested on anything or any information with the thyroids. So, thanks for posting on the subject. Take care.
