Hey Farmgirl Friends, I am trying to get away from using commercial products as much as I can. I have tried Dr.Bonner's Peppermint Castile Soap for my skin, and I even like it for a shampoo. Because I am 53, I need to moisturize my skin, at least around my eyes. Can anyone recommend a product that is organic and doesn't cost a fortune?

I have skin almost like a baby's
I use Aveeno's skin moistiure on mine
I use it as a base for my powdered make up I wear when I go out
I only try to use natural products on my skin as it is so sestitive.
give it a try
they have soap too I think
I have had that small bottle about 6 months and it lasts a long time.

Oh the shealoe is great - I forgot about that! Wholesale Supplies Plus has a good one and I think it's less than $10 a pound. A pound would last a long, long time. You could even mix some other oils with it and whip it to make it lighter. Just don't heat over 130 degrees or it will separate. Lots and lots of good ideas!!

Howdy Tamara, and all of you other savvy farm girls! I am so intrigued by your knowledge. Tamara, I checked out your website, and it's amazing! I may just get out to your place to see it live! Where do you get your soybean oil?
I have ordered from Rose Mountain Herbs, and I agree....they have great products.

Shea butter! That's all I use. Either plain or I also buy Shea Aloe. You can find it online wholesale anywhere from 6 to 10 for a pound. Its really moisturizing and 100% natural.

Good luck!

Hi Pamela~
I am originally from Johnson City TN now in Pikevill so HOWDY NEIGHBOR....

Take some dried calendula and let the herb steep in soybean oil for 4-6 weeks. Strain and you will have the most fab skin softening and cell regen around. The calendula heals skin and soybean oil helps cells rejuvinate (being used after plastic surgery for better healing). I use about 1/2 cup of herbs to one pint of oil set in sunny window seal and shake every few days after 6 weeks strain and you are ready to use. This will last you for a long time. Great on any type of dry skin, exzema, ect....

live well,
Tamara

Mountain Rose Herbs is a great place!! Their products are of very high quality and most are organic. I got mine on eBay from a gal that I have purchased from in the past. I was also ordering emu oil so wanted the combined shipping.

Coconut oil does not clog pores but it can be drying to the skin. Extra Virgin Coconut Oil is great for the skin.

Where can I find the rose hip seed oil? I have trouble finding much of anything around here. I went to Nature's Treasures here and asked about coconut oil and they don't recommend it because they feel it tends to clog pores. I think I can get that somewhere else, though. I am so trying to get back to more natural stuff. I have an herbal book that shows how to make rosewater and stuff, but my roses usually die before I can get to them. Any suggestions?

If you have mature skin rose hip seed oil is excellent! It is known to help with cell regeneration and repair lines & wrinkles. It is kind of expensive though. I just paid $15 for 2 ounces. But it would last a long time as you don't need much.

What about pure almond oil? I heard that was Jackie Kennedy's beauty secret.
