Posted - Mar 09 2009 : 1:34:34 PM Does anyone else deal with these?
This weekend has just been awful and has kept me from doing alot. It seems whenever the barometric pressure changes, storms moving in I deal with these.
What do you do for relief? I would sure appreciate any input :)

Posted - Mar 25 2009 : 10:02:01 AM I suffer from these headaches, too. You can't get Aleve here in Canada, and I've heard it does work well. I have to use Ibuprofen liqui-gels, and sometimes they don't even work.
There was a feature on the news recently, that it's not the pressure change, but temperature increase that causes these headaches. I don't believe it (and apparently a scientific study proved it). It's always when there's a storm or rain coming, that I get them.
Have also heard about the hydration, too. But usually, if the headache has gotten started, it's too late to get it stopped, and I just have to suffer through it.

Posted - Mar 16 2009 : 2:45:40 PM If anyone has any interest in homeopathy, I have found that the standard remedy for sinus/pressure change headaches does tend to work well. You can take a dose of either 30c (or 30x, how it's labeled depends on the company) of Kali Bichromicum, or 6x of the cell salt Kali Mur.
This time of year (and the fall) tend to be my worst seasons for these headaches for obvious reasons, and I really swear by homeopathy for them.
Good luck!

Posted - Mar 16 2009 : 2:20:05 PM OHHH, you're by Mesa Verde (had to mapquest it)! wow. I'm hoping to take mom there this summer. I went a few years ago and loved it.
If I see a system coming in, I start downing water or at the first sign. We do live in a fun area between the storm changes (which are few but intense)and the elevation.

yup, I have faced these too, but they usually come when I haven't been drinking enough water. As long as I stay hydrated the change doesn't bother me. Just a thought. Laurie

Posted - Mar 14 2009 : 05:02:05 AM I can't take excedrin, it had so much caffeine in it that I don't know what to do next! I usually just take extra strength Bayer. Maybe I will try the aleve. I have never really had head aches until the last month or so. Can't figure it out. It's only on one side and seems to be a sinus thing. Is that a pressure headache? NANCY JO

Posted - Mar 14 2009 : 03:45:21 AM I have tried the Head On, peppermint/lavender temple rubs and all that stuff.
Maybe i'm waiting too long before trying it.
Most times trying to tough it out makes it worse and makes the RX take longer.
I'm all for natural remedies, but thanks to over 8 years of suffering far too long, these days I save the smelly stuff for when I need just a mood lift, and reach for the RX to kill the pain in its tracks. |

Posted - Mar 13 2009 : 4:14:00 PM Having had good luck with homeopathic remedies before, I got one of the Head On sinus headache relief things. It works really well for relieving the first onslaught of sinus pain.

Posted - Mar 13 2009 : 3:41:07 PM I get these too.
Started taking the OTC stuff and it never did any good.
Went to a headache clinic for suspect migraines and got a prescription. I sometimes pair Aleve with my prescription and it USUAlLY takes care of it. Aleve more to take inflamation away if I have lifted something heavy at work and think it may trigger a migraine.
Last week the RX meds took the pain away, but 2 days later another one came back. It was kind of all over and dull, not piercing and behind my eye.
And, a good frined of my hubby is a sports therapist, so I trade eggs for therapy sessions. 90% of my headaches are brought on by a muscle cluster on my back and a fall on my neck 8 years ago. The other 10% is either caused from bad foods laced with MSG/ and lunch meat preservatives. Those migraines usually come on fast too |

Posted - Mar 11 2009 : 7:54:30 PM I have tried all the different ones mentioned and Excedrin is truly the only thing that works for me. Even for my bad knee pain...other meds work for a little while but after a couple months I end up going back to excedrin...it works best. And I am sure I do get the rebound headaches sometimes. I tend to try other things and take a month or so "off" excedrin and then go back to it. I wish I could find something better.

Posted - Mar 11 2009 : 3:19:46 PM Jessie. Aleve is great. I used Ibuprophene for years but now Aleve works better. When I have a sinus problem MY Dr. suggested Coricidin HBP since I have High blood pressure. It does work too for sinus pain/ or cold & flu symptoms. I really canbreathe after taking a dose. It does kinda make me jittery if I don't eat first.. Change in pressure takes it's toll on me too...

Posted - Mar 11 2009 : 3:10:08 PM Well I tried Aleve for the first time a couple of weeks ago, and I'm tellin' ya, it works fantastically! You can take one tab and another if needed, but one seems to work great for me. It even helped with back pain last night. And it works for more than four hours, lol!
I think people (like me) who use Excedrin too much can get 'rebound' headaches. I've totally been a victim of this.

Posted - Mar 11 2009 : 2:50:47 PM I have had them wicked the last three days. I wish it would either get cold or get hot or something instead of hot one day and freezing our rear ends off the next. I've been taking Ibuprofen, without much relief. Aren't Aleve and Excedrin really powerful? Like they are super safe?? hugs

I get those too! I use Aleve at the first sign of a pressure change. I can usually feel it around my eyes and the Aleve is the only thing that has ever worked for me.

Posted - Mar 09 2009 : 3:46:35 PM Leslie,
I know what you mean about the Excedrin. Usually I take a couple with some cold Pepsi. Not the best thing for my stomach but I would rather deal with tummy pain than a headache. I get stuffed up too and have using a Neti-Pot to try and help. The headaches just seem unbearable at times.

Posted - Mar 09 2009 : 3:37:30 PM I get these. I was taking Excedrin, but I feel that I've over used it. Last time, I tried Aleve and one tablet worked like a charm! Made my sinuses feel better too. I tend to get a bit stuffy as well as the headache.
