I have always used the Dove Sensitive bar soap- it's the white one. Only one I have found out of natural and store bought that doesn't make me break out or dry out. Good luck!!!

Sheila - if you are using commercial soap on your face it's probably the fragrance that is making it burn plus the soap is drying it out. Also there are practically no moisturizing benefits to commercial soap. When soap is made it has naturally occurring glycerin. The commercial makers strip this glycerin out and sell it as a by-product leaving just a bunch of fillers and chemicals in the soap. I can't say enough good things about the benefits of olive oil. When I was formulating my soap recipes I did different ones trying all sorts of oils. I have a program on my computer that shows a graph of the soap qualities using different ingredients - olive oil was just as moisturizing, or more so, than many other expensive oils. Do you have any chamomile tea at home?? Just take a couple of chamomile tea bags, put them in a clean jar, pour in about a half cup of olive oil. Put this in a pan of water and let it simmer for about an hour to infuse the chamomile into the olive oil. Take out the tea bags and put the oil is a smaller sterile container. The chamomile will be very soothing to your skin. You could also add a few drop of lavender essential oil.

If your face is that sensitive, just try cleansing it with a small nickle sized dollop of olive oil. Oil is an excellent cleanser...even for oily skin (I swear, if I'm lyin, I'm dyin). Or you could blend your own facial cleanser: 2 parts olive oil with one part cetaphil.... the dermatologist I used to work for swears by that stuff... I personally didn't like it but it IS gentle. Maybe it wont burn so much. Keep me posted. I'd like to hear the outcome....

Thanks for the suggestions girls
My grandmothers use to make homemade soap
I think it had olive oil in it.
I might look it up and try a bar.
couldn't hurt to try.
When it comes to ones face

Oh when I think of drug store products I just cringe! I agree with Dawn - I don't trust the FDA. And the cosmetic companies make everything sound good just to make money. I would stick with Burt's Bees or any of the organic lines at the health food store. If you want to use something from home you really can't beat olive oil.

I love Burts Bees. But I have to agree with Molly, olive oil would be really good for you. I know that money is really tight all around, but buyer beware of drug store products.... as an esthetician, I dont trust the FDA regs on them. I use Burts in my facials and body treatments, and I also use Repechage but its pricey. Are we talking eczema sensitive?

Maybe try a castile soap? Just plain olive oil soap is the most gentle around. :)
