Posted - Feb 08 2009 : 10:16:24 AM The thyroid is affected by iodine, that's one of the reasons salt is iodized so that people get enough iodine in their diet to help avoid goiters and such. |

Posted - Feb 08 2009 : 07:46:32 AM Thanks gals I am a little nervous but looking forward to a week off of work I can stay home but can't sleep with my hubby. I just wonder if the pill kills what is wrong with your thyroid what keeps it from killing something you don't want it to?

Posted - Feb 06 2009 : 1:00:43 PM Nothing to be scared about. I had it 10 years ago, and had to have an iodine pill treatment. Had to stay in the hospital for 4 days in isolation due to the radiation. But that is all, I got a pill and just read and slept, lol. After 4 days I could go home and am now on meds for my thyroid.
Don't know how they do it now, but the treatment with the pill is no biggie, trust me :)

Posted - Feb 06 2009 : 09:51:43 AM I had two radioactive iodine scans when I was having parathyroid issues. Is it a scan that the doctor wants to do or some kind of treatment? The scans weren't a big deal just long, a couple of hours of being completely immobile.
