I go through long bouts of diarhea, like weeks at a time. I don't eat the best but I do try- lots of water, whole vegetables and fruits, I do take fiber now and then and I eat whole wheat products. Doc says it's just my system, so I am coming to the real experts, all ya'll. It is annoying because if I take a walk or I am out, I suddenly have to go, NOW...and it is not perty. Sorry, tmi, but I need help as this is getting aggravating. Any advice???

My friend had this and she was diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis. I would definitely see your doctor. There is also a natural IBS remedy that you can get at Wal-Mart. It is good bacteria and enzymes. It really helped her. The name is Digestive Advantage and it comes in a blue and white box.

Here's something kind of weird too. Our 2 oldest female rhino suffer from what we call leaky behinds. This only seems to happen when they have been locked in the barn for a while but didn't start up until we got new rhinos in 2 years ago.

We use this stuff called Biosponge. It kind of looks like an off whitish baking soda and smells like clay when it's wet. It probably works like the charcoal.

Sure wish I had thought to pack charcoal when in Africa and had to fly home with a very bad, bad case of food poisioning. That's NOT how I like to get 2 seats to myself!

It's so rough when we loose control of our bodies....especially in front of other people. sorry to everyone

I can't imagine what it's like to have moring sickness.....or for that matter have water to break in public.

Most embarassing moments could be a whole 'nuther topic!

Acidopholis and the other good bacteria are also in yogurt. But if lactose intolerance is the issue, tablet form OR kombucha tea may be the answer. I love the fizz

would chrone's disease be in he rhelm of possibilites too?

I have heard this also causes gut upsets at the most inconvenient times

Years ago I had an Osteopathic Doctor who believed in Homeopathic remedies when traditional medicine did nothing. I developed chronic diahrea and vomiting so severe I lost 20 pounds in two weeks! He gave me Charcoal tablets. helped after two days. It did come back when I stopped and I had to repeat the treatment once more but never had the problem again. Easily found in health food stores now. Give it a try. To my knowledge has no side effects. Best of health to you.

HA!

Animal keeper here!

This is "normal" conversation for some of us...over meals sometimes too!

Oh please, I hope you find relief. Pity for maybe having to lay off the dairy for awhile.

My nephew hhas this and was just diagnosed a few months ago.

And in this same vein,,,,,I'm a diet soda addict. I know the nutra sweet is a bladder irritant. Had lunch w/ some friends, drove home and thought I could make it home ok and bypass the grocer and gas station. Lemme tell you, the woods all along the roads were starting to look mighty inviting. I almost didn't make it home and was driving wAAAAY to fast. Ended up finding a bathroom at a gas station 6 miles away. I never would have made it. It's a very bad feeing

Sorry you are having to deal with this! No fun at all. I went through a similar trouble about 5 years ago, and my daughter (who was having growth problems) and I were both diagnosed with Celiac Sprue. It's an intolerance to wheat, oats, barley and rye. We have no symptoms whatsoever as long as we avoid these foods. If you are still having trouble, I would have your dr. run a test for it! Good luck!

Acidophilus works wonders on diarhea. I use to give it to my kids to help them with 'poopie problems' when they were babies and toddlers. I use it when my tummy feels bubbly and out of sorts. As I understand it, it's a bacteria that your need in your digestive track. You can get it in liquid or pill form at your health food store. The liquid is easier to give to kids, and works almost immediately.

Hope your back on track soon.

Kate- With a 2 1/2 year old, I am always prepared for a poop session no matter where I am. : )

It is so funny what will trigger a bout. Sometimes, I swear it is because I get nervous about not making it to the bathroom on time that it actually MAKES me have to go. UGH!!!

I just looked up some yoga moves to help with it. We shall see how that goes. Thanks for the ideas. I am avoiding cheese this week and eating the yogurt with the special stuff in it to balance my bowels. : )

Heather,
I am sorry you have had problems with this. I have an ocassional bout with IBS, so I can sort of relate.
Perhaps you have too much fiber worked in?
I would keep a food journal for a while. Consult your doctor and see if it is a food allergy, too much fiber, lactose intollerant etc.

In the meantime, stash a thing of baby wipes and a change of drawers in your car or purse/work bag to keep yourself fresh in case of an accident.

Oh my sweet Lord, I am dying over here. I have tears running down my face from laughing so hard.
Now that is true love if he still married you after that. Great sense of humor too.
And poo is no big deal on this forum. Like the book says "Everybody Poops."

I got one for you. if I can type while laughing!
My hubby used toown his own truck (big truck) he hauled grain, dirt you name it. Anyhow, I went with him one day and as we drew close to home I had to go. Now its pretty hard to pull a huge dump truck off the side of the road so i "held" it until we got home. As soon as that thing was parked i swung the door oped and jumped out. As you knw, big trucks are pretty high off the ground. Well I missed the side step and landed on both feet in the drive. Well, the "impact" broke the seal and I stood there with poopy drawers. We werent actually married yet, so I was majorly horrified. One look at my face and he knew what happened and he started laughing, then i laughed and everytime I tried to pinch those cheeks together, I'd poop some more.... it was awful and hysterical at the same time!

Dawn- as long as you hang on while I drive wildly to find a bathroom, we will be alright. Reminds me on when I went biking riding with a friend. This was out in central California, on a military base and there were cotton fields with bike paths running through them. My friend had to go ...NOW!!! So we pulled over near the only larger bush in the whole dang field, she dropped her drawers and went. We thought we were good, as it was the middle of nowhere, until we heard some workers hooting and hollering at us in Spanish. HA!! Needless to say, both her face and her rear end were red!!! HA!!! Girl has to do what a girl has to do.

If you get stuffy when you have dairy then you are most likely lactose intollerant. My best friend is and if she eats too much dairy she immediatly gets allergy like symptoms, sore throats and diahrrea!

Dawn--OH MY GOSH LMAO right now!! HA!! Because it has happened that way...seriously, I know where all the clean bathrooms are between here, school, daycare and Wally world. HA!!!!

I am thinking it is either a dairy allergy OR IBS or a combo of the two. When I was doing just soy milk and drinking my green smoothies, I was doing so much better. I also get stuffy when I have to much dairy. Interesting....

try cutting out milk and other dairy products for a while and see if that helps. Keep a food diary and then you can see if you have any food triggers.
