I found this web address on the Urban Homemakers newsletter that I recieved recently. It was really cool. You just pick your city or small town and it will tell you what contaminates have been found in your water supply (whether city hookup or ground water supplied wells). Ours only showed ONE contaminate-- Nitrate. One of the "Nasties" to be sure, but not as bad as it COULD be! Here's the link-- hopefullly it'll work.

Yeah, I agree that the stats are a bit outdated Julie, but still, it gives a LITTLE bit of insight into what's in our water-- or at least what WAS in our water. I found it quite interesting that there was only ONE "potentially harmful" element in our water (and in such insignificant amounts!)-- considering that we live in a farming community-- Mostly dairy farms and rice paddy's. You would think that there would be ALL KINDS of nasty stuff detected. There was ONLY ONE? Temps me to do my OWN water check after all.

But, this IS California. We have some of the strictest environmental laws in the WORLD!! A person can barely FART without the EPA swooping in and slapping a huge fine (for AIR POLLUTION) on them! (LOL) Unless you have M-O-N-E-Y of course. THOSE people always seem to find a way to "slip through" the cracks. Hmmm.......

That was interesting but the most recent data for my area was 2002. We were put on a new water system about a year and a half ago so the stats are practically ancient.

Another reason to be thankful I moved to the side of a mountain in North North Idaho.
