So after reading Annika's post,

how many of us out there have ever broken a bone (s)?

How did it happen and how long ago?

I broke my tailbone while pulling a crate across a garage floor back in the 90's. The handle snapped and I landed into some shelves backward, then landed hard on my tush straight down onto the floor. I knew something was wrong when a friend extended a hand for assistance, and I had to sit there for a minute and actually think about trying to get back up.

Couldn't sit straight for a week

To this day it still "catches" if I have been sitting weirdly or on the edge of a chair

I've had only one for sure, but possibly two... playing softball in 1980, catching, a girl slid in at home plate & hit my left leg... actually, she was more like flying... anyway, she hit my leg with her shoulder & snapped the fibula... I was in a cast for about a month... a year or so ago, I think I might've broken my little toe, but never went to the doc about it... it turned black & blue & hurt for a long time... I don't remember for sure how it happened, but probably kicked a chair leg or something...

I had a broken jaw when I was 17, and was wired up for 6 weeks. Then I discovered that milk turned to a solid. So, after not being able to eat any solid food for a week, I drank 4 malts back to back. Well, when it all came up minutes later, my mom had to cut the wires holding my mouth shut. Back to surgery and another 6 weeks of not eating! Thankfully that was the only broken thing I have had.

I broke my arm rollerskating in 3rd grade. My mom didn't believe me and make me take of my skates and carry them in the house, take a bath, do my homework, eat dinner. My dad comes in and I had cried myself to sleep on the sofa and ask my mom why I had my arm propped on a pillow. She told him how I was pretending that I broke it. Dad (the medic from VietName) looked at it and told her that it wasn't supposed to have a dip in the middle. Both bones were broken clear through. We still harass her about that one.

I broke my tail bone on a swing that broke, I was pretty high up, when I was 12. It broke again when I was giving birth to Elizabeth.

I have broken 8 of my tens fingers because when I was younger I was horrible about sticking my hands in closing car doors.

I broke my nose once on a James Dean picture. It was mounted on wood and fell out of the top of a closet.

I broke my foot dropping something on it in my early 20's.

Right now I have 2 broken ribs from the wreck

Okay- Try not to cringe-

I broke the two bones in my right forearm when I was just a week from being 1 year old. I was a daredevil child and was climbing onto a children's rocking chair that we had. I then stood up on the chair and it tipped over before my parents could stop me.

Then when I was between 2nd and 3rd grade, I was goofing around on some monkey bars after a rain storm. I fell and broke my left arm just below shoulder. I barely missed the growth plate which could have meant my arm would have stopped growing!

Then when I was 8 I was in a bike crash and I shattered the bones in my upper jaw- especially the bones that the roots of the front teeth are protected by.

When I was in 8th grade I crashed riding a different bike and broke my right wrist.

When I was a Sophomore I broke my nose playing soccer, then a few years later, Doug accidentally broke my nose, and then a few years after that- I was trying to teach Sky a new trick and instead of going under the tire, she jumped onto it- crashing into my nose and breaking it for the third (and hopefully final!) time!

Ugh! Just typing that list makes me cringe and feel the aches of my old injuries again. I was just remembering how painful it was to stretch my left arm after that break. Owie. I will be good if I never break another bone again!

I broke my wrist last Christmas. We went iceskating, hadn't done that in a million years and with my first re-try, yup fell on the ice and broke my wrist!
It was my right wrist, and I am right handed, YIKES! BUT I chose a hot pink cast, so looked cute, lol.

And I too feel a twitch now and then in my wrist, not hurtful really, just annoying. Esp when the weather changes so don't need the forecast LOL
