Posted - Aug 13 2008 : 9:20:42 PM so okay, i had a cavity and later a chunk of my tooth broke off. (I have soft teeth anyways.) I don't have dental or health insurance due to job changes and whatnot. Any suggestions on how to handle going about getting this fixed in this situation? It can't cost me too much money as that seems to not be fertile in our neck of the woods these days. any thoughts would be appreciated. Its starting to keep me up at night and I can feel it in my ear. sighs.. hugs jess

Posted - Aug 16 2008 : 08:50:27 AM Another thing you can try is to contact a dental school. Lots of times they'll do things at a reduced rate, or if you're lucky for free. Trust me, you don't want to let that tooth go too long! I did that once and it ended up costing me a fortune for a root canal!

Posted - Aug 16 2008 : 07:40:17 AM Here in Ellensburg there is a Free Clinic twice a month and they will refer folks to dentists, however, I don't know if the referral visits are freebies or not. But, I know the DSHS office has the dates of the Free Clinics here. I work for a clinic and I know they donate their office space for the free clinics and they are always held on a Saturday while they are closed. You might call your Social Services agency and see if this is available for you. Toothaches are heck!

Posted - Aug 16 2008 : 07:32:54 AM Yes, keep looking! There have been times that I haven't had insurance and usually I can pay the $100 for x-rays and cleaning up front but once I had a large bill when I had several cavities and they were able to put me on a payment plan. There should be a dentist willing to work with you. -Elizabeth |

Posted - Aug 14 2008 : 11:30:48 AM Jess: I'd see a dentist. If the tooth is bothering you now, don't wait for the weekend before you get it fixed. Call your dentist and ask if you could pay on time. Keep us posted. Marly |

Posted - Aug 14 2008 : 03:36:19 AM I agree - call your dentist. I have a good friend who is a dentist. They would rather have a payment plan going and you have a fixed tooth than a patient walking around with a broken tooth. You don't want it to get worse. (hugs)
