Sisters, are you aware of the direction that Monsanto is going?
Please, take the time to check this out and if you are as disturbed as I am please pass it along to others.
I hope that we can make some changes, quickly.

Nance in France Posted - Jul 12 2008 : 05:19:38 AM
Thanks for posting that link to the incredible video! I began watching it late at night and did not get to bed til after midnight and then I was TOO HORRIFIED to fall asleep! Because we live in France during summer we have access to great greengrocers in our small village, so we do not buy produce at the grocery chains. We are trying to support our fledgling farmers market back home in Virginia also, when we are there. My French hubby just bought a book called "The World According to Monsanto". It is written by that French reporter who appeared in the video, and is probably available in English also. I agree 100%, bigger is not always better, and definitely not in this case! That is agricultural rape, plain and simple! Here's to homegrown!

I'm certainly doing MY part by not participating in any of their VOLUNTARY programs (ie- the Voluntary Scrapie program-- which leads to automatic NAIS premises registration (which is SUPPOSED to be Voluntary too-- but when we VOLUNTEER information to the Government-- we actually WAIVE our constitutional rights!! What are they going to do, come to my house and take them away from me? Yeah, right. I've got LOTS of mason jars. They'll have to dig up the whole 22+ acres to FIND them!! (ha! ha! ha!) Don't worry ladies, if we all do our part to fight "Big Brother," we can't lose. Even to a MONSTER like Monsanto.

I think there may have been more than one state that has done that recently....Wyoming is one. I have so much more to say on this subject but it will have to wait until tonight. Have to go to work right now.

I try to watch what I buy because I do not like Monsanto. They are going to be the death of the independent farmer and they have really messed up our seed supply. But what is sad is that Monsanto give money to the local FFA. They offered all but $10 to buy my daughters FFA jacket and I told the teacher that we would pay for it. I do not want anything from them. I told the teacher why and she said she understood.

Ooops! Ok, so the web address I posted for JL Hudson seeds doesn't work. It just takes you to one of those generic sites. If you want to read the articles posted there, just type in JL Hudson seedsman and you should be able to find it. So sorry.

And Heather-- you ask WHY do they bully he "little guys?" A simple thing-- because they CAN. That is, until the little guy fights back and gets all the OTHER little guys involved and they don't back down! It's all about money and power. Like a bunch of mean kids on the playground trying to charge kids for using the bathroom AND stealing their lunch money!

Oh ladies, it gets MUCH worse I'm afraid! Not only is the Federal Government trying to force us into using GM foods, (which have already been slipped into our commercial food supply--- it is not required to be on the labels as yet), but now they are trying to take away our right to buy non-alterd seeds for propagation (ie-- open pollinated and heirloom). A site I found while browsing on-line for my garden seeds this year really scared the HECK out of me! to read more about the dangers to our NATURAL food supply go to JL Hudson seeds at http://www.jlhudsonseed.net/index.htm

It is a seed bank that collects rare and endangered (and NOT so rare and endangered) seeds from all over the world for study and preservation. The USDA is threatening to make it illegal for them to sell the seeds to the general public and/or shut them down all together. The Federal Government is also trying to make it illegal to import any exotic and/or foriegn seeds, vegitaion and animals of ANY kind across our borders-- if the law passes, those things must be destroyed and it will have a DEVASTATING impact on the Self sustainablity of the American public. (and possibly even the world). So SCARY!!!

Some GOOD news though! One of the states recently sued the Federal Government for meddling in STATE affairs! (can't remember which state at the moment) The constitution (I belive it's the 10th ammendment-- could be a different one though) gives the states power over certain things in which the Federal Government CANNOT interfere! Penne, thank you for the website, I spent an hour and a half watching and reading. I could not take it after that I was sooooo emotional. It is just incredible that Monsanto can get anything it wants. It is destroying the world! I recently went organic but have very little choice in and around my small community. I will not buy any GMO period!!!!

Find your joy and live it.

Why would they threaten someone who is just trying to make a living? I so hate when I hear about that. I hate big business bullies.

this stuff is really creepy. it makes me sick when i hear about big business pushing their weight around and (harshly) threatening the little guys who are whole heartedly trying to do good for the world. these people are nothing but greedy....would love to tell them: okay, have your children and grandchildren eat nothing but the sick crap you are making! see how they'd like that!

Monsanto is one of the worst companies out there. WHen I ran a little food coop we were one of the first places to sell organic milk in the state. it was a huge novelty, and we were on the news and even in the New York Times. Anyway, the lovely people at Monsanto made threatening phone calls, threatening to sue us, shut us down etc.

It was awful (this was in the early 90's) Just scary.

Horrible!! Horrrible!! Horrible!! I remember when I was little watching the "Jetsons" and thinking how easy life would be if we just popped a pill for our food. I am regretting that thought right now. I honestly don't think most American's realize what they are eating. We have so much power but we don't exercise it at all.
