have you used a speculum and a mirror to view your inner self? I only ask because I just did tonight for some swabs I did for viewing my cervical mucus. I am often my own guinea pig for my midwifery and holistic womon care studies.

It is actually very interesting and if you haven't done it, you should. If you can't get your hands on a spec. (I get mine on ebay from a med supplier) you could probably ask your doctor if you can take a peek when you go in for your pap! They might think you odd at first but should understand that it's important for us all to see and know our insides...

so have you done it? what did you think afterward?

I have a husband who is totally not freaked out by female biology and he even took a peek! he thought it was pretty neat!

Well, I had never even heard of doing this. But if we can do the breas self exam, I guess this would be a good idea. My hubby would probably love to do it for me though! But I don't even go to the gyno much anymore. I will probably go next year jsut because I haven't been in awhile. Our insurance doesn't pay much for a checkup so I don't go. Or even a mamogram.

That's really a good idea! I've been amazed at how much I have learned about my body (or how little I knew before!) through the process of trying to conceive.

You wanna know what this reminds me of? You know the Movie Fried Green Tomatos? Where they women all meet and the poor lady is so embarassed by the vagina.I am sorry, that just crossed my mind when I read your post Tasha.

Can't say I've ever done that or ever considered doing that. Having a pap and pelvic done is beyond uncomfortable for me, I can't imagine putting myself through that at home on my own. If it weren't so uncomfortable it is probably something I'd do.
