Posted - Jan 31 2008 : 2:17:44 PM Greasy food such as McDonald's makes mine flare up. I can usually control mine with diet. When that doesn't work, good old pepto works for me. I also picked up a supplement at my co-op. When I get home, I will post the name.

Posted - Jan 31 2008 : 1:25:51 PM I had to avoid anything with wheat or gluten, nuts, seeds, fruits with seeds (berries), chips; just about any processed food will cause a flair-up. Pizza crust is a killer, too many sweets too...eat more raw fruits and vegetables...it helps the healing process.

Posted - Jan 31 2008 : 12:17:38 PM IBS is horrid and your dh has my utmost sympathy. My dd developed IBS after being on Torodol (non-narcotic pain killer) for 9 months when she had an orthopedic ilizarov frame on her leg. What truly helped her were two old fashioned things...Swedish Bitters and good ol' Pepto Bismal. I was really concerned with the amount of Pepto she was taking, but our doctor assured me it was just bismuth and not to worry. Finally she now gets remissions, but when it does flare up, it is truly her friend. Grease is her worst enemy as is anything with a lot of fiber such as alot of flax or heavy multigrain. There are other prescription medications that should help your husband. I hope he gets some relief for this soon, it's truly no fun. Di
