Thanks Tina. It is this dry, unproductive cough. It is very dry out here, so we keep the humidifier going. Thank God it is going to rain this week, will help get some moisture in the air. He is drinking TONS of diluted (with water) juice and OJ- I keep him off milk when he is sick. He really only likes it once a day anywho. And he loves pineapple and mandarin oranges. I am going to try the steamy shower/bath tonight. I bought my essential oils today. He has had croup twice, so I know what it sounds like. It might just be a leftover or as they say at every doc appointment..."it a virus going around..." ..which annoys me to no end!!! I also rub baby Vicks allover him and put him in footie pj's...he is so darn cute!!!

Cheers,
Heather

if he still takes milk..switch over to pedialyte for a few days until the cough starts clearing up.
(we had a extremely bad case of the croup when my son was 9 months old...nearly lost him cause dr. prescribed wrong meds(allergic reaction)..so this is what helped..after the ER visit for steroid breathing treatment..uggh..hope your little guy doesn't get any worse..but the humidifier and steam room treatments were what we had to do)

if the cough sounds like a seal bark..I'd definitely steam up the bathroom with hot water from the shower and then just let him sit in the bathroom for a while after the room has steamed up like a sauna.
Also a humidifier in the room he sleeps in is a good thing.no milk/dairy products until the cough has cleared up..milk can produce more phlem(sp?) .nasal drops are good..it helps to keep the phlem from getting clogged up in the sinuses and causing a sinus infection.
plenty of fluids..keep those fluids going.
chewable vitamin c can add a boost to his system.
good luck..hope the little guy starts feeling much better soon.

I would take him outside for a little while and then give him a warmer than usual bath with some drops of lavender, eucalyptus and tea tree oil in the bath water (about 3 drops of each.) ZOe had a rough patch of that last winter and it was all upper respitory and that is what worked! I use the oil combo on a cloth myself when my asthma starts to act up. It's my first line of attack before using any mullein or at very last resort, my inhaler.
